Migos to perform at Music Matters Charity Concert

Hip Hop trio Migos will perform at the Fifth Annual Music Matters Charity Concert at 8 p.m., April 13, in Hill Auditorium, 825 N University Ave, Ann Arbor. University of Michigan junior Matt Fisher, fundraising chair for Music Matters, said all proceeds from the concert will help fund a summer camp for underrepresented Detroit youth.

Senate passes resolution to provide music hall renovations

The Student Government Senate passed a resolution unanimously to provide funding for renovations to the Alexander Music Hall at its regular meeting Tuesday night in the Student Center. The resolution amends the Student Government Budget FY16 to allocate $30,000 to the summer-long renovations, totaling at $74,000.

Morton and Starr victor in student government elections

r Tanasia Morton and Joshua Starr were elected as Student Government President and Vice President, respectively, for the 2016-17 academic year, taking 68% of the total votes.  After hearing the results of the election, Morton said she is excited and grateful about her win. “[I am] ready to make very positive change on campus and do everything that I promised I said I was going to do,” Morton said. Starr said after he and Morton institute the changes they promised in their candidacy, they will focus on getting more students engaged in Student Government. “We had a lot of plans coming into this election and now that we’ve won, we can start working on them to the best of our ability,” Starr said. Starr said students should watch for changes on campus during the next academic year.

Student government president reflects on his time in office

Steven Cole was elected as Student Government President on March 26, 2015. After his year in office about to come to an end, he reflects back on how he moved forward with the platform he ran on. Accomplishments During his time as president, Cole has several accomplishments in specific that he is proud of.

Student government finds new funding for student organizations

The Student Government Senate passed a resolution 17-0-0 to amend the Student Government Budget at its weekly meeting Tuesday evening in the Student Center. The resolution calls to pull unused money from the budget and put that money in a new line item that will make it available for student organization funding.
