All of us have grown up with St. Patrick’s Day — in elementary school, it was an excuse to dole out pinches to anyone not wearing green. Now, in college, it’s an annual drinking fest unrivaled by almost any other day.
Students filtered into the small room in the Eastern Michigan University Student Center last Thursday, to browse the posters on the wall and the displays of prayer clothing and other items.

The powerful boom of drums began this year’s Chinese Week Gala, as a character entered the stage and began to illustrate, in a martial-arts inspired dance, the Chinese tradition of the Lion Dance.
Eastern Michigan University’s fifth Chinese Week kicks off Sunday with their annual gala performance. The gala will be from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Student Center Auditorium, with a reception following. This year, Susan Martin will be the keynote speaker for the event of traditional Chinese music and dance.
The sixth in the collaborative series of “Times Talks” featured an eye-opening discussion led by Eastern Michigan University professor of communications and media, Geoff Hammill, Thursday at the Eastern Michigan University Student Center.
