The 16th annual “Tim Esch Scouting for Food Birthday Party” raised 60,000 meals while raising awareness and helping local food insecurity in the community. It was hosted by local Boy Scout Troop 4.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office put out a media release on May 26 following a shooting incident and excessive force from a deputy in Ypsilanti Township. A neighbor recorded a Facebook Live video of a white deputy repeatedly punching a black woman in the head. Investigations are ongoing for both the initial shooting case and the excessive force used by the deputy.
Many cars were broken into near Prospect Park on the early morning of April 21. A car was also stolen from apartment lot on Summit St. during the same time frame. Many car related robberies continue to occur in April as discussed on an Ypsilanti Facebook page.

Two 18-year-old men have been arrested and charged with the murder of Trey Matthews III. The fatal shooting occurred on Jan. 11 in Ypsilanti Township at Nancy Park.
