After heading into their fourth tournament of season, the Eastern Michigan’s women’s volleyball team traveled to Dayton, Ohio to participate in the Flyer Invitational tournament from the weekend of Sept.

Eastern Michigan Head Volleyball Coach Kim Berrington announced her retirement Monday. Berrinton retires after 19 seasons at EMU, with a record of 305-289, and is the winningest coach in EMU volleyball history.

Eagle of the Week: Dori Harrison

Following her performance in the Eastern Michigan volleyball team’s comeback win over Ball State University in five sets Nov. 8, Dori Harrison was named the Eastern Echo’s Eagle of the Week.

EMU volleyball seniors share their memories

Prior to the Eastern Michigan volleyball team’s final road trip of the regular season, I spoke with the team’s three seniors – Natalie Folk, Megan Crawshaw and Jill Briner – about their time at the university and what they will take with them after they graduate.


Megan Crawshaw finished the match with 18 kills.

Eagles clip Cardinals in 5 sets on Senior Night

The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team took on Ball State University Saturday night at the Convocation Center in the final home match of the regular season, needing all five sets to take down the Cardinals, 14-25, 25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 15-10.

Volleyball falls to Ohio in 4 sets

The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team took on Ohio University Saturday in a rematch of the 2013 Mid-American Conference finals – losing in four sets 20-25, 25-19, 19-25, 20-25.




Eagle of the Week: Stacey Perinar

After making 31 kills in her team’s two weekend matches, Eastern Michigan University junior outside hitter, Stacy Perinar, was selected as the Eastern Echo’s Eagle of the Week.She now has 122 kills this season – most on the team and fourth in the Mid-American Conference by number, but eighth by average.The Eagles (14-10, 5-5 MAC) got off to a good start, but struggled during the middle of conference play.



Volleyball team adds assistant coach

Eastern Michigan University volleyball coach Kim Berrington announced June 10 the addition of Shayna Munson to her coaching staff. Munson is familiar with Coach Berrington, as she was a member of her squad from 2001-02.

The school year is quickly winding down and with it ends an eventful year for Eastern Michigan University’s athletic teams. As part of my weekly appearances on E-TV’s Eagles Sports Update, I share my “Eagle of the Week” – a player or coach who stands out to me for their performances in the week leading up to the show. For this, the final issue of the school year (not counting the summer semester), I have compiled a list of my Eagles of the Year for all of EMU’s sports, as well as for some specialized categories.



Eagles volleyball triumphs over Toledo, WMU

The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team won its quarterfinal and semifinal matches of the Mid-American Conference Championship over the weekend – a five-set thriller over the University of Toledo Rockets on Friday night and a straight set sweep over Western Michigan University on Saturday.


Nothing gets in the way of a podcast episode, not even Thanksgiving break. With that being said, the 11th episode of Scoop on the Scene is now avilable to listen to on Spotify.
