NASO questions reasons behind EMU presentation

Eastern Michigan University hosted a presentation on the River Raisen National Battlefield Park and how it was intertwined with Wyandotte Native American Nation, Thursday afternoon in the Student Center in honor of Native American Heritage Month. EMU President Susan Martin said the objective of the event was to learn more about Native American history and the tribes themselves. “It’s all about education and history.

EMU hosts Great Lakes Mock Trial Invitational

Eastern Michigan University hosted the 4th annual Great Lakes Mock Trial Invitational over the weekend. The tournament consisted of two rounds of mock trial each day, and took up the entire third and fourth floors of Pray-Harrold.

Runners warm up for EMU's turkey trot

The Rec/IM and Office of Nutrition Services hosted the annual Turkey Trot Friday afternoon in the University Park. Kyle McAlear, assistant director of club and intramural sports said the goal is to put on a 5K race for the students, staff and faculty.

EMU decides not to renew charter with Gaudior Academy

Eastern Michigan University has decided not to renew its charter with Gaudior Academy upon its expiration in June 2015, the university said in a statement Wednesday. Gaudior Academy, a kindergarten through eighth grade school located in Inkster, Mich.

EMU animal research plays by the book

Eastern Michigan University is one of a few universities that abstain from animal testing. Instead, EMU uses the data collected in studying animals in humane animal research. Though EMU is not classified as a research-intensive university by Carnegie standards, it is still considered a research university.


Student Government hosts election party

Eastern Michigan University’s Student Government hosted an After the Election Party in celebration of Election Day Tuesday night in Ballroom A of the Student Center. Student Government representatives were passing out t-shirts, food, refreshments and raffle tickets out to celebrate student-voters who took timeout of their day to take part in Election Day.
