	Eastern Michigan University’s 32 student-athletes who earned 4.0 GPA’s this past fall, some of whom are pictured above, prove that brains and brawn can go together well.

Student-Athletes demonstrate balance

It is no easy task to balance playing sports and academics, but 32 Eastern Michigan University student-athletes achieved both and then some by finishing the Fall 2013 semester with a 4.0 grade point average.



Alexis Micheltree (Fr. Moon Twp., PA) won both 100 and 200 backstroke events.

Men's, women's swim teams win final home meet of season

The Eastern Michigan University swimming teams closed out the home schedule with victories over Wayne State University, Mid-American Conference opponent Ball State University Friday and Saturday. The men’s team beat Ball State 163-115 On the women’s side, Eastern Michigan defeated BSU 185-112 and OSU 228-7.


Junior Mike Fisher (Saline, MI) won the 200 yard breaststroke (2:04.75) by 1.5 seconds.

Men's swim team sets MAC record winning streak

The sound of water splashing returned inside the Jones Natatorium after a month-long absence as the Eastern Michigan University men’s and women’s swimming teams played host to the University at Buffalo and Michigan State University Saturday.




Swimming team attends FIU Invitational

With a snow storm blanketing Southeast Michigan and much of the Midwest and Northeast, the Eastern Michigan University men’s and women’s swimming teams resumed the regular season in warm and sunny Miami, Fla., at the Florida International University Invitational on Saturday.


	The men’s team (1,144 points) finished ahead of Oakland (1,042), while the women (1,042) finished behind Oakland (1,106).

Both of Eastern Michigan University’s swimming teams claimed second place finishes in the EMU Invitational Friday and Saturday. On the men’s side, Eastern Michigan took first place with 1,144 points over Oakland University, which scored 1,042.




Women's swim team wins its 7th straight conference meet, 169-125 vs. Akron

The Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team won over the University of Akron Zips 169-125 to claim its second straight dual meet victory of the 2013-14 season Saturday. EMU (2-2, 2-0 Mid-American Conference) extended its conference-winning streak to seven and the series record versus Akron (0-2, 0-2 MAC) to 13-0.



EMU’s swim and diving teams hold intrasquad meet

The Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving teams held an intrasquad meet in the Jones Natatorium Saturday to round out preseason training. The men’s white team won 140-114 while the women’s green team took a victory with a 136-121 score.


Women’s swimming defeats BGSU, remains undefeated

On senior day, Briana Emig captured first in the 200, 500 and 1,000 freestyles in 1 minute, 52.84 seconds, 4:58.58 and 10:20.17, respectively, to help the Eastern Michigan University women’s swim team remain undefeated by knocking off the Bowling Green State University Falcons 166-128 at Jones Natatorium.

Despite senior Jacob Hanson breaking the record in the 200 backstroke, Eastern Michigan University fell to the top-ranked University of Michigan Wolverines 196-133 Friday.

Women swimmers 3rd, men 2nd at Florida meet

The Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team’s four-meet winning streak came to an end Saturday with a third-place finish at the FIU Invitational in Miami, with a team score of 595. The men’s team finished in second with a score of 756 points.

Swim, dive teams compete

The Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team had juniors Briana Emig and Kelly Hendricks compete in the NCAA Championship Meet Thursday through Saturday in Auburn, Alaska. The first competitions took place on Thursday, with Emig swimming in the 500 freestyle event.
