Final: EMU 71, Youngstown State 62

The Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team took on Youngstown State University Friday night at the Convocation Center as part of the EMU Showcase. The Eagles won 71-62.



Eastern Michigan forward Karrington Ward throws down a massive dunk in the Eagles 89-77 win over Oakland Monday night in Ypsilanti. The dunk was also featured as the number 1 play on SportsCenter's Top Ten.

The Eastern Michigan men's basketball team defeated Oakland University, 89-77 Monday night. In the second half, Karrington Ward threw down a dunk which made national news. Ward launched over Oakland point guard Kahlil Felder to throw down the dunk and spin on the rim. ESPN placed it as the number one play of the night on SportsCenter.

The Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team took on the Oakland University Grizzlies Monday at the Convocation Center. The Eagles won, 89-77.

The Eastern Michigan women’s basketball team traveled to East Lansing for a matchup with the Michigan State University Spartans Sunday at the Breslin Center. The Eagles lost, 69-61.

Eagle of the Week: Dori Harrison

Following her performance in the Eastern Michigan volleyball team’s comeback win over Ball State University in five sets Nov. 8, Dori Harrison was named the Eastern Echo’s Eagle of the Week.

Prior to the Eastern Michigan volleyball team’s final road trip of the regular season, I spoke with the team’s three seniors – Natalie Folk, Megan Crawshaw and Jill Briner – about their time at the university and what they will take with them after they graduate.

The Eastern Michigan football team played the second of its Michigan MAC games Saturday against Western Michigan in Kalamazoo. The Eagles lost 51-7.

The Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team kicked off the EMU Classic and the regular season with a 64-52 win over St. Francis University.

Dailey scores 31 in regular season debut, Eastern blows out Kent State-Tuscarawas, 127-40.

The Eastern Michigan women’s basketball team started its regular season with a 127-40 blowout win over Kent State University-Tuscarawas Friday at the Convocation Center. Eastern’s 127 points is the most scored since Nov. 30, 2013 when the Eagles scored 120 against Marygrove College. The 87-point victory is also a team-high (86 points vs. Temple Baptist University on Nov. 11, 2007).



In year 3, Verdi looks to continue progress

Tory Verdi is starting his third season as coach of the Eastern Michigan women’s basketball team – a team that on paper, has improved from the squad that finished 18-14 last season and lost to the University of Illinois-Chicago in the second round of the Women’s Basketball Invitational.

Following their performances in the Mid-American Conference Championship meets, men’s cross-country runner Willy Fink and women’s cross-country runner Victoria Voronko were selected to be the Eastern Echo’s co-Eagles of the Week for the week of Nov. 3.
