Women's basketball falls to U of M

Eastern Michigan’s women’s basketball team (6-4) traveled a short distance to Ann Arbor to take on Washtenaw county rivals— the University of Michigan Wolverines Monday afternoon. After the exciting upset for the men’s team last week, fans and players alike looked to repeat the success at the Crisler Center.

Rob Murphy’s Eastern Michigan team had a chance to really shock the world Wednesday night in East Lansing. Coming off a huge win for the program defeating the University of Michigan; expectations were high to possibly see something that hadn’t happened since 1987. Unfortunately, Murphy’s squad was not able to pull off the upset but there were some good things to take note of and some not so great.

Coming off a huge 45-42 upset win over the Michigan Wolverines, the Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team looks to pull off yet another upset as they take on the Michigan State Spartans Wednesday night.

Fans celebrating the Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball victory over the University of Michigan near the intersection of Emmet Street and College Place, outside a house often referred to by students as the ROTC house, dragged a couch across its yard and set the couch on fire early Wednesday morning.

Eagles upset Wolverines 45-42; Improve to 8-1

The Eastern Michigan University Men's basketball team upset the University of Michigan 45-42 at the Crisler Center Tuesday night, boosting their record to 8-1. This is the fist time the Eagles have defeated the Wolverines since 1997. The victory marks EMU’s second big win against a Big Ten Conference team while having Rob Murphy as coach. Eastern started weak in the first half, with Michigan up 10-0 at the halfway mark. Eventually, Eastern found its way back in the game, ending the first half trailing by only two points, 21-19. As the second half began, Eastern clawed its way into the lead, improving off of their first half mistakes. The Eagles found their groove with a 9-0 run in the second half.  Guard Mike Tally sank two free throws to push Eastern to its biggest lead of the night. Michigan answered back, cutting Eastern’s 9-0 run and resulting in a tied game with 40 even.



EMU vs Madonna

Women's basketball beats Madonna to go 6-3 on the season

The Eastern Michigan Eagles rolled over the Madonna Crusaders Tuesday night, beating the Crusaders 68-88 at the Convocation Center. This game marks the fifth straight win for the Eagles in the Convocation Center, leaving them undefeated at home.


EMU upsets U of M 45-42

Playing a stifling zone defense, Eastern Michigan Basketball upset the University of Michigan at the Crisler Center Tuesday night, winning 45-42. EMU coach Rob Murphy said it was not only a huge win for EMU basketball but the entire athletic department. The Wolverines had no answer for the Eagles swarming defense which invaded Michigan passing lanes and contested every shot UofM tried to put up. Six miles separate the Eastern Michigan Convocation Center and Crisler Center. Tuesday night, the “Battle for Washtenaw County” continues when the Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team travels those six miles to take on the University of Michigan Wolverines.

Three Eagles pick up MAC honors in football

While the Eastern Michigan football team struggled to a third straight 2-10 season, there were bright-spots amidst the gloom, as three players earned positions on the All-MAC list. Junior defensive lineman Pat O’Connor headlines as the lone Eagle to earn first-team honors.

Men's basketball drops its first game of the season

After a tough game against University of Dayton, the Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team undefeated winning streak came to an end with a final score of 73-64, as the Eagles drop their first road game of the season in Ohio. The game began with Eastern and Dayton trading buckets, ending the first half with Eastern trailing by two, 26-28.
