EMU men's basketball falls to Akron

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (12-11, 2-8) men’s basketball team fell, 59-58 to the Akron Zips on Saturday, Feb. 8, at James A. Rhodes Arena. The loss snaps a two-game winning streak for Eastern Michigan, despite being led by Ty Groce’s 15 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Eagles win behind Annecchiarico’s career-high 31 points

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (11-11, 6-5) women’s basketball team won 83-79 against Western Michigan for its first win in Kalamazoo since the 2015-16 season. Jenna Annecchiarico scored a career-high 31 points, eight rebounds and shot 50 percent from 3-point range.

Gymnastics team loses on Senior Night

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (2-3, 1-3) fell to the Northern Illinois Huskies on Friday, Feb. 7, on Senior Night at the Convocation Center. The final score was 196.125-194.375, in favor of the Huskies, despite Jada Rondeau tying her career-high on the vault with a score of 9.850. She also tied her career-best on the beam with a score of 9.875.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (10-11, 5-5) women’s basketball team fell short on Wednesday, Feb. 5, against the Ohio University Bobcats. Unfortunately for the Eagles, it was their second loss in a row. This was a challenging game for the Eagles considering their top two scorers Aaliyah Stanley and Arenna Combs were out.

Eastern Michigan takes down Buffalo at home for second consecutive victory

The Buffalo Bulls (14-9, 5-5) men’s basketball team played the Eastern Michigan Eagles (12-10, 2-7) on Tuesday, Feb. 4, as the ninth game on Eastern Michigan’s MAC conference schedule. The Eagles came into this match 1-7 in the conference, their win being against the Toledo Rockets. Buffalo came into this game 5-5 record, but fell 66-62 on the road.

Eagles women’s basketball team looks to snap two-game losing streak in Kalamazoo

The Eastern Michigan Eagles women’s basketball team (10-11, 5-6) will look for a win over the Western Michigan Broncos (11-9, 4-5) on Saturday, Feb. 8 to break even on their regular season and conference record. With both teams on a two-game losing streak, they will be looking to get back in the win column, as Western Michigan will be also looking to break even on their conference record.

Combs helps EMU defeat Toledo before losing to Akron

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (10-10, 5-4) women’s basketball team has split their last two games, as they defeated the Toledo Rockets on the road, 77-62, before falling to the Akron Zips in overtime last Saturday. The Eagles were led by Arenna Combs versus the Rockets as she finished with 27 points. Juanita Agosto had 21 points against Akron.

The tennis team splits with Eastern Illinois and Illinois

The EMU women's tennis team defeated Eastern Illinois University 5-2 and lost 7-0 to Illinois at the Atkins Tennis Center in Champaign, Ill. on Sunday, Jan. 26. The two matches were the second and third of 2020, with one loss to Michigan State on Jan. 23 and three invitationals this past fall.

Eagles defeat BGSU in swimming and diving

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (4-1, 3-1) swimming and diving team defeated the Bowling Green Falcons (3-2, 1-2), 206.5-93.5, on Friday, Jan. 24 at Jones Natatorium in Ypsilanti. The Eagles are now 2-0 at home and have bounced back from their lone loss versus Akron last weekend.

Hudson leads EMU women's basketball over Northern Illinois

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (9-9, 4-3) women’s basketball team came back from losing against Central Michigan last Wednesday, Jan. 22 by taking the win against Northern Illinois (5-13, 1-6) on Jan, 25. This was a home game as the Eagles celebrated National Women and Girls in Sports Day and the victory. This is the women’s first win against Northern Illinois since March of 2018.

EMU hosts, competes in Can Am Classic

The Eastern Michigan women’s track team ran away with five titles while at home hosting the Can Am Classic on Saturday, Jan. 25 in Bowen Field House. One of the seniors and co-captains Brittni Mason from Ohio, came close to beating her season best time in the 60-meter dash of 7.55.

EMU men’s track earns eight first place finishes in the Can Am Classic

The Eastern Michigan men’s track and field team competed in the Cam Am Classic on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Bowen Fieldhouse in Ypsilanti. The Eagles competed in 17 events and had a first place finisher in eight of those. EMU was led by Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed, who won the long jump and triple jump events.

EMU gymnastics loses its home opener

The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team lost its home opener against Central Michigan University on Sunday, Jan. 19. The match started on vault and the Eagles had the advantage in scoring after the first rotation but they were unable to hold on for the victory.

EMU women’s tennis prepares for season ahead

The Eastern Michigan’s women’s tennis team is set to begin their 2020 schedule as they face Michigan State on the road on Thursday, Jan. 23. The Eagles were selected to finish in eighth place according to the MAC preseason poll. Buffalo, who totaled 77 points, was selected to win the conference. Miami (OH) was picked to finish in second place.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles women’s track team traveled to Saginaw Valley State University for the Doug Hansen Open on Friday, Jan. 17. The Eagles competed in 11 events, including the 60-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 800-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles, the one-mile run and much more.
