EMU loses 13-6 against Cincinnati

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (1-12) baseball team fell in the second game in their double header against the University of Cincinnati on March 7. The Eagles came into today with a 1-10, while the Bearcats came into this game 5-7, winning five of their past six games.

Eagles slip up on road versus Michigan State

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (3-7, 1-4) gymnastics team lost their most recent match versus Michigan State on Saturday, March 7 in East Lansing. The Spartans came away with a 195.625-194.200 victory, while the Eagles were led by Jada Rondeau, Emili Dobronics, Kara Roberts and Caitlin Satler.

Areanna Combs scores 22 points in home loss

The Eastern Michigan (14-14, 9-8) women’s basketball team wrapped up their regular season and celebrated Senior Night against the Western Michigan Broncos for their last home game of the season on Wednesday, March 4 at the Convocation Center. After the Eagles crushed the Toledo Rockets 64-46 last week, EMU was ready to get back into action against the Broncos, who were only one spot behind EMU in the MAC standings.

Binelli starts hot but EMU falls to Toledo

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (16-15, 6-12) men’s basketball team lost their final regular season game of the year to the Toledo Rockets (16-15, 8-10) on Friday, March 6 at Savage Arena in Toledo. The Eagles were led by Thomas Binelli, who finished the game with 12 points and three rebounds. Luke Knapke had 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Rockets.

Eagles lose 70-54 on the road versus Western Michigan

The Western Michigan Broncos (13-17, 6-11) defended their home court in a win against the Eastern Michigan Eagles (16-14, 6-11) in Kalamazoo at University Arena on Tuesday night. EMU tied the Broncos at 35 with 17:07 left in the second half before being outscored 20-8 in the final nine minutes, ending with a 70-54 loss.

Eagles pull off comeback win on Senior Day

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (16-13, 6-10) men’s basketball team came out with a huge victory on Saturday, Feb. 29 at the Convocation Center. EMU came back from 14 points down to defeat Central Michigan, 67-63, behind Yeikson Montero’s 17 points. Boubacar Toure had 13 points and 14 rebounds on Senior Day for the Eagles.

Gora and Jones combine for four hits in 12-7 loss

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (1-7) baseball team lost their seventh straight game, 12-7, versus North Dakota State on Friday, Feb. 28 at North Charlotte Park in Port Charlotte, Fla. Eastern Michigan’s seven runs is the second most they’ve scored in a game this year but it wasn’t enough to take down the Bison. Nate Jones led the Eagles with two runs batted in.

Eagles fall to Ball State and Northern Illinois

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (15-13, 5-10) men’s basketball team fell to the Ball State Cardinals after having an early lead Saturday, Feb. 22 in Muncie, Ind. EMU lost again in the following game versus the Northern Illinois Huskies on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at the Convocation Center.

Timko picks up three hits in loss to Pittsburgh

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (1-4) men’s baseball team lost their fourth consecutive game, 10-4 versus the Pittsburgh Panthers (5-1) on Saturday, Feb. 22 in Sanford, Fla. The Eagles trailed 3-2 in the middle of the sixth inning but the Panthers scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull away. Justin Meis (0-1) took the loss for EMU.

EMU men's basketball demolishes Kent State

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (15-11, 5-8) men’s basketball team defeated the Kent State Golden Flashes on their home court in Ypsilanti on Tuesday, Feb. 18. The Eagles beat the Golden Flashes with an astonishing score of 70-49, clinching their third consecutive win after beating Central Michigan and Western Michigan recently.

Combs' 23 points not enough against Akron

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (12-12, 7-6) fell to the Akron University Zips on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti. The Eagles only had one double-digit scorer in the game as forward Areanna Combs dropped a game-high 23 points, four assists and two steals in the loss. Shaunay Edmonds had a team-high 15 points for the Zips.

EMU women’s tennis falls to Binghamton

The Eastern Michigan (3-4) women’s tennis team fell to the Binghamton Bearcats, 4-3, on Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Binghamton Tennis Center in Vestal, New York. The Eagles got victories from Emma-Lou Pommiers, Marie Mayerova, and a doubles team of Isabelle Pompa and Vasavi Ganesan.

The Eagles can't complete comeback in 3-2 loss versus Pittsburgh

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (1-3) baseball team lost 3-2 against Pittsburgh in the first of a three-game series in Sanford, Fla. The Eagles were down three runs until the sixth inning where they scored two runs. With the loss, the Eagles are now just 1-3 on the season after losing a three-game series versus Austin Peay last weekend.

EMU gymnastics finishes third at Georgia Triangular

The Eastern Michigan University’s Gymnastics team competed against the University of Georgia and Ball State University in a triangular at UGA on Friday, Feb. 14. The Bulldogs, the hosts of the event finished in first place with an overall score of 197.075. In second place was the Cardinals with an overall score of 194.725. Lastly, the Eagles finished third with an overall score of 194.700.

Annecchiarico and Combs lead EMU women's basketball to victory

The Eastern Michigan’s (12-11, 7-5) women’s basketball team defeated the Bowling Green Falcons (8-15, 1-10) on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green. The Eagles were led by Jenna Annecchiarico’s 22 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Areanna Combs added 20 points and 13 rebounds in the victory.

EMU men's basketball upsets Central Michigan on the road

The efficient second half scoring propelled EMU to a road win at McGuirk Arena against the Chippewas who were 11-1 at home going into the game. The Eagles shot 55% and outscored CMU by 10 after halftime to win 73-70. Ty Groce scored 22 with 12 rebounds, while Boubacar Toure scored 20 with 13 rebounds.

Eagles triumph over Western Michigan

The Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team defeated the Western Michigan Broncos on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti. The Eagles have now won three of their last five games, with a 4-8 overall conference record. Western Michigan came into this game with an overall record of 11-13 and a 4-7 record in the MAC.

Eagles men's baseball wins season opener versus Austin Peay

The Eastern Michigan men’s baseball team began their season with a victory over Austin Peay on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Raymond C. Hand Park in Clarksville, Tenn. The Eagles were led by Taylor Hopkins, who totaled three hits and four runs in five plate appearances, and Luke McGuire, who earned the win after pitching six innings.

Sunday, Jan. 26, will forever be a memorable day in sports history. Former NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi and seven other victims died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas. The vibrations of the tragic event were felt across the globe, including students at Eastern Michigan University.
