The Eastern Michigan University baseball team will hit the road again for a weekend series in Kalamazoo to play Mid-American Conference rival Western Michigan.

Baseball falls 10-9 to Bobcats

The Eastern Michigan University baseball team lost 10-9 in its series finale with the Ohio Bobcats on Sunday. The best-of-three series was tied at one coming into the game, but the Eagles could not hold on for the victory despite scoring four runs in the first inning. Senior first baseman Ben Magsig went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored for the Eagles (10-17, 3-3 Mid-American Conference). Senior catcher Matt Hitt was 1-for-5 and brought in three RBI in the first off a base-clearing double.

EMU tennis conquers Ball State

The Eastern Michigan University tennis team defeated Ball State 5-2 on Friday to improve to 2-0 in the Mid-American Conference. The Eagles’ dual teams did not let Ball State overcome them, and they won all of their three doubles matches by scores of 8-3.

Softball falls twice to Mastodons

The Eastern Michigan University softball team dropped both of its games in a doubleheader with Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne on Tuesday in Fort Wayne, Ind. The Eagles (9-17) fell in the first game to IPFW (24-7) 5-0 and lost the second 4-3. In the first contest, junior pitcher Jenna Ignowski (6-4) fell to the Mastodons after allowing three runs on four hits in three innings of work.

The 2011 Detroit Tigers’ roster included an ace pitcher trying to make a name for himself as the best, a star first baseman trying to continue hitting without much help in the lineup and not much else in terms of a lineup or starting pitching.

Tennis preps for Ball State, Miami

“I expect everyone will contribute in different ways,” said Ryan Ray, head coach of the Eastern Michigan tennis team. The team has a home meet against Ball State on March 30 and another the next day against Miami. The Eagles’ overall record is 5-11 as they enter these two matches after a recent loss to Louisville.



Baseball starts MAC with series win

The Eastern Michigan University baseball team won against the Miami RedHawks 4-2 Sunday. The win gives EMU a series victory to start the Mid-American Conference schedule.
