James Still let go due to legal issues

Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball player James Still, a junior, was dismissed from the team Nov. 16. Still and a fellow Providence College teammate were arrested in April 2010 for a felony count of assault while attending the Rhode Island Catholic and Dominican College.

Eagles football earns second win at WMU

The Eastern Michigan University Eagles (2-9 overall, 1-6 Mid-American Conference) get to keep the Michigan MAC football trophy after a 29-23 victory over the Western Michigan Broncos (4-8 overall, 2-6 MAC) Saturday in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Football team anticipates MAC trophy again

After a tough loss to the Central Michigan University Chippewas, the Eastern Michigan University football team, 1-9 overall and 0-6 Mid-American Conference, will head over to Kalamazoo Nov. 17 to face their in-state rival the Western Michigan University Broncos, 4-7 overall and 2-5 MAC.

Men’s basketball beats Rochester, falls to Gamecocks

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team opened the inaugural Ice Man Classic Nov. 9 with a 66-52 victory over the Rochester College Warriors. The Eagles then faced a 61-54 loss to the Jacksonville State University Gamecocks Nov. 11.


Women’s basketball kicks off season with win

The Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team kicked off their 2012-13 campaign Nov. 11 with a come from behind victory over Northeastern University Huskies by a score of 50-47 at the Convocation Center.

The Eastern Michigan University women’s volleyball team lost a tough straight set match (23-25, 22-25, 28-30) to the Ball State University Cardinals Nov. 9. The loss brings their record to 17-14 (7-8 Mid-American Conference).

Volleyball team wins final match of season

The Eastern Michigan University women’s volleyball team won their final match of the regular season Nov. 10 at the Convocation Center. The Eagles celebrated Senior Night with a 3-2 win against the University of Toledo Rockets (29-27, 23-25, 17-25, 25-21, 15-11).


Football team loses to Chippewas 34-31

So close. The Eastern Michigan University football team had victory escape them again in the second half of their 34-31 home loss to their Mid-American Conference rival the Central Michigan Chippewas. The Eagles are now 1-9 (0-6 MAC) on the season while CMU is 4-6 (2-4 MAC).

Women’s basketball violates practice rules

The NCAA announced further sanctions on the Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team Nov. 8 resulting from rules violations that took place during the 2009-10 season. The team had already imposed sanctions on itself; however, the NCAA handed down its own punishment on several individuals involved.

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team started the defense of their Mid-American Conference West title Friday in their 66-52 victory over the Rochester College Warriors at the Convocation Center.

Watkins looks to honor her family and team

Natachia Watkins changed her Eastern Michigan University basketball number to 50 in honor of her sister, who passed away after last season. “My sister played basketball in high school and college at Notre Dame College and she wore [number] 50,” Watkins said.
