Freshman places 1st at wrestling tourney

The Eastern Michigan University men’s wrestling team kicked off their season with the 21st EMU Open at Bowen Field House Nov. 3. The tournament played host to over 450 wrestlers and well over 25 schools across the country, including nationally ranked wrestlers. The NCAA Divisions l, 2 and 3 were also represented.


Iaquaniello leads volleyball to CMU victory

The Eastern Michigan University women’s volleyball team won an important match against Central Michigan University Nov. 1 in straight sets (25-19, 27-25, 25-19). The victory brought the Eagles’ record to 16-13 (6-7 Mid-American Conference West), while the Chippewas saw their record fall to 12-12 (6-7 MAC) with their sixth loss in a row.


Women’s basketball begins new season

The Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team enters the season as the defending Mid-American Conference champions, on the heels of a 23-9 record (13-3 MAC West) as well as the West Division title. They lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament to the University of South Carolina by a score of 80-48.

As the Eastern Michigan University football, soccer and volleyball seasons draw to a close, other sports are opening their competitive season and getting ready for the spotlight, such as the EMU men’s wrestling team.

EMU football to face Ohio Bobcats Thursday night

After their offense hit a speed bump at Bowling Green State University, the Eastern Michigan University Eagles football team (1-7 overall, 0-4 Mid-American Conference) has a Thursday, Nov. 1 game in Athens, Ohio against the Ohio Bobcats (7-1 overall, 3-1 MAC).

Volleyball needs win to secure playoff spot

With four matches remaining in the regular season, the Eastern Michigan University women’s volleyball team knows they need to win now in order to earn the final playoff spot in the Mid-American Conference West Division.

Basketball enters season as MAC champs

The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team enters the season as the reigning Mid-American Conference West Division Champions. On Oct. 30, the Eagles were projected to finish second in the west in the MAC preseason rankings, receiving four first place votes.







Batch works to cut dropouts

In an attempt to cut high school dropout rates in half before 2018, former Eastern Michigan University quarterback Charlie Batch, who now plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers, teamed up with the United Way’s Team NFL. Batch has been the Team NFL representative for the Steelers since 2006 and is committed to educational opportunities.

Shelter teams up with EMU football

·

During the upcoming Nov. 10 football game against Central Michigan University, the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County is teaming up with Eastern Michigan University’s football team in a text-to-donate program, which will allow free entry into the game. By texting “HOME” to 20222 (messaging and data rates may apply), you will donate $10 to the Shelter Association, a program dedicated to ending homelessness in the county.


Vincek volleyball profile

Kaitlyn Vincek, number two for the Eastern Michigan University women’s volleyball team, decided to play volleyball after talking to the mother of a friend who ended up persuading her to try out. “She ended up being my first coach and I played with her daughter up until college.
