Baseball defeats WMU, 7-1, Friday

Friday was a special day for redshirt senior Brian Hill and the Eastern Michigan University baseball team in its 7-1 win over Western Michigan University. Hill (W, 5-1) took a no-hitter into the ninth inning for the Eagles (16-18), but with one out in the top of the ninth, he surrendered a single to Andrew Sohn, ending the no-no bid.

For Eastern Michigan University senior and women’s golf team captain Alyssa Kwon, being part of the golf team has been exciting because of her teammates.

Softball loses 4-0 to Bowling Green

The Eastern Michigan University softball team had little rest following Friday’s doubleheader against the University of Toledo, when it lost 4-0 to the Bowling Green State University Falcons Saturday afternoon at Varsity Field.


	After losing game one by 13-8, coach Karen Baird said the extra-inning win in game two was big for the Eagles.

Softball team earns 14-13 win over Toledo

Sophomore outfielder Jenn Lucas’ walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth inning propelled the Eastern Michigan University softball team to a 14-13 victory over its Mid-American Conference foe University of Toledo Rockets, in game two of an afternoon doubleheader on Friday at Varsity Field.

Track, field teams perform

On a cold and windy weekend that resembled winter more than spring, the Eastern Michigan University men’s and women’s track and field teams hosted the EMU Twilight Invitational at Olds/Marshall Track on Friday and Saturday.

EMU begins athletic director search

Eastern Michigan University announced Friday the search for a new athletic director was officially underway following the departure of former AD Derrick Gragg Jr. at the beginning of the month. According to a press release issued Friday, “The next EMU athletic director will lead a department known for success on and off the field, along with community service.”


	EMU golfer Casey Olsen hopes to continue playing golf after graduating, but isn’t sure how.

Eastern Michigan University senior Casey Olsen has been playing golf almost his entire life. Everything he has done, and still does to this day, seems to carry some golf connotation along with it.

Finals week is the time when most Eastern Michigan University students can be found in two places: Halle Library, where they are furiously studying for said finals, or in the classroom taking them. For those who are perhaps already finished with finals or looking for a place to escape for a couple hours while everyone around you is panicking, EMU’s sports teams may provide you that refuge.




	The team fell to the University of New York at Buffalo Bulls, but beat the University of Akron.

Tennis loses Friday, wins Saturday

The Eastern Michigan University women’s tennis team split its final regular season matches this past weekend. The Eagles fell at home to the University of New York at Buffalo Bulls (3-4) on Friday, but gained the upper hand over the University of Akron Zips, the two-time defending Mid-American Conference tournament champions, (4-3) on Saturday.


	The Eagles beat the Broncos 9-5 Saturday at Oestrike Stadium. EMU’s next game is Tuesday.

Baseball wins against WMU

Coming off a near no-hitter for the Eastern Michigan University baseball team Friday, the team continued its successes Saturday with a 9-5 win against the Western Michigan University Broncos at Oestrike Stadium.




	The Eagles’ next game will be Friday at home against the University of Toledo Rockets.

Softball team loses to Youngstown 13-3

After giving up 12 unanswered runs over the final four innings, the Eastern Michigan University softball team earned a split with the Youngstown State University Penguins with a 13-3 loss in game two of Tuesday’s doubleheader at Varsity Field.


	The EMU softball team beat the Youngstown State University Penguins 5-3 in game one of a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon. The women tied the game in the bottom of the third, but a three-run double in the next inning and another run in the fifth brought the Eagles ahead.

The Eastern Michigan University softball team snapped a 13-game losing streak Tuesday afternoon with a 5-3 win over the Youngstown State University Penguins at Varsity Field in game one of an afternoon doubleheader.

Track, field teams perform

Sophomores Victoria Voronko, Cameron Bolton and redshirt sophomore Warren Witchell highlighted 19 top-five finishes for the Eastern Michigan University men’s and women’s track and field teams at the Sea Ray Relays which took place in Knoxville, Tenn., this past weekend.


	Softball plays Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

There are two weeks left in the school year and before many of us are overwhelmed with the studying and stress that comes with finals week, some opportunities are available to get out of your rooms and see some of the teams here at Eastern Michigan University.


	The team won against Northern Illinois University, 6-1, Saturday.

Tennis defeats Huskies

The Eastern Michigan University women’s tennis team won its second consecutive meet, when it defeated the Northern Illinois University Huskies 6-1 on Saturday.


	EMU has a wide array of club and intramural sports for students.

When it comes to sports, I have all of my father’s athletic ability (my father has absolutely no athletic ability). In grade school, I spent so much time on the bench that my teammates thought I was someone’s sibling.
