Eagles get swept by Bowling Green

The EMU softball team was swept out 3-1 during the weekend finale against Bowling Green State University Sunday, April 9, in the Mid-American Conference cross-divisional action at Meserve Field. In the beginning, The Eagles had a good lead, but it was enough to defeat the Bowling Green Falcons.

EMU softball fails to record a hit

On Sunday, April 2, the Eastern Michigan softball team ended its series finale, 9-0, to the University of Akron at Varsity Field.  The Eagles fell to 13-17 on the season and 2-4 in Mid-American Conference play.

Eagles struggle on the road

EMU went 5-1 on the recent homestand, but has gone 0-4 on the current six game road-trip, losing tight contests to Northern Illinois and Western Michigan. The Eagles were swept in a doubleheader at NIU Friday, losing 5-3 in game one and 5-2 in game two, while losing to WMU 3-2 on both Saturday and Sunday.

Softball gets three wins over weekend

After a long road trip that ended with a 2-6 stretch, the Eastern Michigan softball team returned home over the weekend and found some comfort, finishing the weekend with a 3-1 record.

A 2-0 lead for the Eastern Michigan softball team late in the first game of a weekend series with Central Michigan quickly disappeared, falling to the Chippewas 5-2 on the strength of two home runs late in the game.

A five run rally fell just short for the Eastern Michigan softball team Saturday, falling at home to Miami, OH in the first of a two-game series, 9-7 in eight innings.

The school year is quickly winding down and with it ends an eventful year for Eastern Michigan University’s athletic teams. As part of my weekly appearances on E-TV’s Eagles Sports Update, I share my “Eagle of the Week” – a player or coach who stands out to me for their performances in the week leading up to the show. For this, the final issue of the school year (not counting the summer semester), I have compiled a list of my Eagles of the Year for all of EMU’s sports, as well as for some specialized categories.

Softball opens season with split

The Eastern Michigan University softball team opened up the 2014 season spending the weekend at the USC Upstate Tournament in warm Spartanburg, S.C. EMU split the four games between Friday and Saturday.


	Lucas hit .235 last season with 5 home runs and 27 RBI’s. The center fielder also stole 3 bases.

It is no easy task to balance playing sports and academics, but 32 Eastern Michigan University student-athletes achieved both and then some by finishing the Fall 2013 semester with a 4.0 grade point average.

The 2013 season was a disappointing one for the Eastern Michigan University softball team, as it finished the year with a 17-33-1 (7-14 Mid-American Conference) record. The team closed out the spring with a 2-0 loss to the Akron University Zips on May 5.
