EMU women's soccer team presents 2022 schedule

The Eastern Michigan University women’s soccer team will begin the 2022 season schedule on Aug. 18 at 5 p.m. against Western Illinois on Scicluna Field in Ypsilanti, MI. The squad will play 18 total regular season matches, eight at home and 10 away.

Eagles women’s soccer team falls in MAC championship following penalty shootout

The Eastern Michigan women’s soccer team lost in the MAC Tournament championship game on Sunday, Nov. 10 versus Bowling Green at Cochrane Stadium in Bowling Green, Ohio. The Eagles came into the tournament as the No. 7 seed before pulling off two upsets over Ball State and Ohio. Eastern Michigan fell to Bowling Green in a penalty shootout.

EMU women’s soccer upsets Ball State in MAC quarterfinals

The Eastern Michigan women’s soccer team won 2-1 against Ball State in Muncie, Indiana on Sunday, Nov. 3. This is EMU’s first win in the MAC Tournament since 2013, when the Eagles defeated Ohio 3-0. The Eagles will play No. 6 Ohio in the semifinals at Bowling Green, Ohio on Friday, Nov. 8.

EMU women's soccer falls to Akron 3-2 after close second half

The Akron Zips women's soccer team came into Ypsilanti and were shutting out the Eastern Michigan Eagles to start the game at Scicluna Field on Thursday, Oct. 24. The two MAC rivals came into this matchup in the bottom half of the conference standings and Akron was primed for a quick momentum turn on the road.

Eagles women's soccer defeats Kent State in overtime

The Eastern Michigan women’s volleyball team defeated the Kent State Golden Flashes, 3-2 on the road in overtime. The Eagles scored two goals in the first half before scoring the game-winning goal three minutes into the overtime period. Sabrina McNeill scored the first and third goals for the Eagles in the win.

Lindsey Shira named United States Coaches Player of the Week after two straight wins

Eastern Michigan women’s soccer player, Lindsey Shira, was named the United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week following wins over Northern Illinois and Western Michigan. Shira, who is in her junior season, scored the game-winning goals in both victories last week, including an 83rd minute score versus the Broncos. The Eagles have now won two consecutive games for the first time this season.


Ball State

Eagles women’s soccer team falls to Ball State on the road

The Eastern Michigan women’s soccer team fell to the Ball State Cardinals at Briner Sports Complex in Muncie, Ind. on Sunday, Sept. 29. Ball State jumped out to a 2-1 lead at halftime before the Eagles tied the game in the second half. The Cardinals would go onto win 3-2 in overtime. Sarah Ash scored a goal for the Eagles, while Rebecca Przybylo had four saves.

Brief: Reviewing the 2019-20 EMU women's soccer schedule

The women’s soccer team had their 20-game schedule revealed last week. The Eagles will begin the season away with an exhibition game against St. Bonaventure on Aug. 11 before the second game which will be the home opener against Oakland on Aug. 22 at Scicluna Field. The Eagles will spend the next six games on the road with their eighth matchup being back at home. All six games will be against non-conference teams. EMU will face Loyola-Chicago on Sept. 22 which will conclude their non-conference matchups.

Soccer is widely regarded as the most popular sport worldwide, yet it’s the fifth most viewed sport in the United States. With that said, the popularity growth of the sport in the country over the last decade is apparent, and a part of that is the development of college soccer.
