Eastern Michigan University rowing prepares for new era in the MAC

Eastern Michigan University’s rowing program is preparing to transition to the Mid-American Conference (MAC) in the 2025-26 academic year, returning to regional competition after nearly a decade with the Coastal Athletic Association. This move brings opportunities and challenges as the team aims to establish itself as a top contender in the MAC while also enhancing community engagement and local recognition of the sport.

Eagles rowing team wraps up fall schedule following Head of the Hooch

The 2019-20 campaign started on Saturday, Oct. 5 for the Eastern Michigan University women’s rowing team. The team competed at Head of the Grand, hosted by Michigan State University. The Eagles finished competition at Head of the Grand with two wins over Michigan State and Grand Valley State.

EMU Rowing Starts Crowdfunding Campaign

The Eastern Michigan rowing team launched a crowdfunding campaign on April 25 to help pay for different equipment that the team needs to compete. The GoFundMe account is up for 30 days with the goal of reaching $10,000 to help aid the team in buying new equipment. In the first day, the team raised more than $1,250. The GoFundMe account has specifically laid out what the donated money will be spent on for the team, ranging from new travel uniforms to a brand new 4+ boat.

Saturday Oct. 1, the women’s rowing team traveled to Oklahoma for their first official regatta of the season. With four races on the agenda and the lady eagle’s team stack with sophomores and two seniors to lead the pack, the team looked to win.

Savage names EMU rowing's 2015 team captains

The Head Coach of Eastern Michigan University’s Rowing Team, Kent Savage, announced the team captains for the 2015 spring season Monday. Seniors Emily Kent and Tijana Milovanovic and junior Ashley Gilmore will lead the rowing team in the 2015 campaign.

The school year is quickly winding down and with it ends an eventful year for Eastern Michigan University’s athletic teams. As part of my weekly appearances on E-TV’s Eagles Sports Update, I share my “Eagle of the Week” – a player or coach who stands out to me for their performances in the week leading up to the show. For this, the final issue of the school year (not counting the summer semester), I have compiled a list of my Eagles of the Year for all of EMU’s sports, as well as for some specialized categories.

It is no easy task to balance playing sports and academics, but 32 Eastern Michigan University student-athletes achieved both and then some by finishing the Fall 2013 semester with a 4.0 grade point average.
