Review: ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ cuts deep with raw lyricism
The film follows photojournalists in a second American civil war. Though it has strong performances and is incredibly well-crafted, the world building is so vague it brings down the entire movie.
“Dune: Part Two” is a masterfully done film. At once epic and thoughtful, it is a worthy sequel.
The play is about an 18 year old boy who wants to find an ancestor in the sea. It’s a modern fable that centers family. EMU’s actors bring their A-game and offer dynamic performances with imaginative sets and costumes.
“Prelude To Ecstasy” is a standout debut album.
“Argylle” is a comedy thriller about an author who gets entangled with super spies. The movie is generally a fun time, though some of the writing and effects are weak.
“I.S.S.” is a science fiction thriller where astronauts battle over the International Space Station when a nuclear war breaks out. It is visually a horrifying masterpiece, but its plot is questionable.
The sequel to 2018’s “Aquaman.” This sea-based superhero adventure sees Aquaman fighting a villain who is speeding up the climate change. Though tonally consistent with the first film, the film’s fast-paced plot leaves no room for anything or anyone to be fleshed out.
“Priscilla” is a biopic about Priscilla Presley, exploring her relationship with Elvis Presley.
This extended version of the fable will be shown at Sponberg Theater on Nov. 10 and 11. It is presented by the Theatre for the Young program which introduces theater as an artform to children.
The series follows Ahsoka Tano, the apprentice of Anakin Skywalker. In the post-Empire galaxy, she reunites with old allies, mainly Sabine Wren from “Rebels,” to find Grand Admiral Thrawn. The show continues the narratives of “The Clone Wars” and “Rebels” cartoons.
Hadley Sullivan misses her flight by four minutes. Stuck at the airport, she runs into Oliver Jones and the two immediately fall in love. Through a series of improbable chances and choosing each other, they experience a speedy romance.
In the 2023 queer comedy “Bottoms,“ a pair of high school outcasts concoct a plan to woo their cheerleader crushes.
The ride in ‘Death Club City’ is worth the trip.
