Sunday, Nov. 20 At 1:39 a.m. the Department of Public Safety received a call regarding an underage student found intoxicated inside of Downing residence hall. This case was closed on Nov. 20.

Sunday, Nov. 13 At 7:08 a.m. three GPS units were reported stolen from three cars at a location on South Huron Street. The offense was believed to have occurred between Saturday, Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 13 at 7 a.m. The current status of this case is open.

EMU students sanctioned for involvement in sit-in

In response to four racial slurs found on Eastern Michigan University's campus, four students have been sanctioned by EMU's Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards for their involvement in the Student Center protest in early November. Since late September, several racial slurs have been discovered including:"KKK, Go Home N*****rs” spray painted on King Hall, ,"Leave N*****rs" spray painted on Ford Hall, "N*****rs" spray painted in the elevator of Hoyt Residence Hall and "N*****rs" spray painted in the stairwell of Wise Residence Hall. In response to these incidents over 200 students came together and marched from dorm hall to dorm hall to gather their overnight necessities then marched to the Student Center shortly after midnight, Sep.

Sunday, Nov. 6 At 7:59 p.m. the Department of Public Safety received a call regarding a student's bike stolen from the racks near Best residence hall. This case was closed on Sunday, Nov. 13.

EMU construction management students place second in national construction competition Six Eastern Michigan University construction management students placed second in a national pre-construction competition sponsored by the Associated Schools of Construction from Oct. 12 to Oct. 15 in Downers Grove, Illinois.

Sunday, Oct. 23 At 12 a.m. a minor was reported to be in possession of alcohol inside of Downing residence hall. The current status of this case is open.

At 4:02 a.m. the Ypsilanti Police Department apprehended a suspect for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs on the corner of Huron River Drive and Leforge Road. The status of this case is pending.

Petition follows occupation of EMU Student Center

three students involved in the occupation of the Student Center are being pursued by Eastern Michigan University for violation of student conduct, in response EMU faculty has started an online petition demanding that administration drop charges against the students and begin to take a different approach to non-violent protest.

Bridget Mary McCormack, a Michigan Court Supreme Court Justice, has been selected as commencement speaker for Eastern Michigan University's fall commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 17.

EMU President and Provost Address Racial Slurs

Following the overnight occupation of the Student Center at Eastern Michigan University, University President James Smith stated that no charges have been filed against the students, and wouldn’t comment on if charges will eventually be filed.
