QTPOCC hosts Queers Without Fears conversation

Abuse doesn’t look like it does in the movies. Chances are the picture you have in your head of somebody who would abuse or assault their partner is wildly inaccurate. This is one of many ideas put forth by the Eastern Michigan University Queer and Trans People of Color Collective’s Queers Without Fears Conversation.

Board of Regents holds regular meeting

The Board of Regents approved a budget of $59 million in student aid for the 2018-19 academic year during its meeting over future actions for the university, among other decisions.

Four rows of chairs for attendees were placed in front of a long table in the front of the room with six nametags placed at the edge. The nametags read from left to right: Danielle Clair Simpson, Alex Simpson, Choi Portis, Nicole Brown, Nick Patterson, and Tanasia Morton.

Former EMU student arraigned for racial graffiti on campus

A former EMU student was arraigned Monday morning in the Washtenaw County District Court for the racial graffiti incidents on campus during the Fall 2016 semester.  Eddie Curlin, 29, who was already in jail for unrelated charges, was arraigned on three counts of malicious destruction of property, four counts of identity theft and one count of using computers to commit a crime stemming from vandalism incidents.

A reflection of Apartheid

This past week, as reported in the Echo, the “Students for Justice in Palestine” held a protest at the freedom wall which, not surprisingly, turned out to be rather controversial.  Now, there are many different aspects of this event one could review or criticize, from freedom of speech to the many divisions between campus organizations, but I am going to focus on the heart of the protest, the accusation of Israel being an Apartheid State.
