The Business and Finance Committee allocated money to the International Student Association, The United Nation Association, Optimize Eastern, women’s club softball and women’s club ultimate frisbee on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The senators allocated less than half of the amount they did at the previous committee meeting, alleviated some of the stress of overspending the budget.
The two suspects in the Pease A-1 lot armed robbery and carjacking incident have been arrested. The stolen vehicle, a 2010 Dodge Charger, was recovered.
Two suspects approached an Eastern Michigan University student with a handgun demanding money and their car keys. The two suspects got into the student's vehicle and fled the spot.

EMU students gather at the university pond to walk for mental health and suicide awareness. The event aimed to not only inform of mental health issues but also to remind those who are suffering that someone cares.

Dr. Barbara Patrick, a political science professor at Eastern Michigan University, gave a presentation on Sept. 24 to address how racial segregation and discrimination are being challenged by the millennial generation.
On the evening of Sept. 26, students filled the Student Center Auditorium to enjoy a free comedy show hosted by Laugh-A-Minute-Enterprises and Campus Life. At the event, L.A.M.E. members showed off their comedic talent through performances such as improv games and ad-lib hilarity.
YpsiWrites will place writing centers a locations of the Ypsilanti District Library (YDL) to extend the writing support available at EMU into the Ypsilanti community. YpsiWrites is a collaberation between the Office of Campus & Community Writing at EMU YDL, 826 Michigan, and Washtenaw Literacy.
Business and Finance Committee Director Mohammad Aggour gave the executive report during the Senate meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 24. The report discussed how the committee had allocated nearly double what they had originally planned for student organizations and club sports. Members in the committee disagree on how the money should be spent.
The EMUsic Festival had a variety of local musicians perform at the University Park on Thursday. The event was free but had a bake sale and donation table for the American Red Cross.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced Tuesday, Sept. 24 that the House would initiate a formal impeachment inquiry against President Trump. EMU Political Science Professors Edward Sidlow and Jeffery Bernstein discuss the likelihood of Trump being impeached and what the next steps are.

The Office of the Ombuds is a resource for the Eastern Michigan University community to take advantage of when faced with any concern. The office helps to resolve issues, coach through conflicts and act as a neutral resource while investigating grievances through EMU. Ombuds came to the Sept. 24 Student Government meeting to make themselves known so that members in Student Government can point individuals in their direction to receive help as well as be a resource to the office when looking into different policies here on campus.
Event planners, musicians, and artists alike are preparing for the second annual EMUsic Fest in EMU’s University Amphitheater. They speak of their excitement, hopes and expectations for the approaching event.
Students were excited to attend the launch of this year’s series of Wellness Woofs, showing up at the Lake House to pet therapy dogs. The dogs were provided by Therapaws, a nonprofit organization that works with therapy animals. The Office of Wellness hosts this program throughout the semester, with the intention of helping students manage through stress and anxiety while bringing the campus community together.
The average college student thinks they can spot an email scam when they see it. While many may avoid getting ‘phished,’ I.T. wants to remind students how to be safe online, including never giving out any personal information through email.
