The film "Intelligent Lives" screens in EMU Student Center

On Fri. Nov. 17, the Eastern Michigan University College of Education and the Ann Arbor Individual Disability Education Advocacy Series (A2Ideas) co-sponsored a screening of the film Intelligent Lives at the EMU Student Center. Following the screening of the film, there was a panel discussion led by Heather Eckner, Janice Fialka and Dr. Carrie Filarski.

Business and Finance Committee Meeting Tuesday, Nov. 12.

EMU club hockey receives no funding from senators this week

·

During the Business and Finance Committee Meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 12, senators agreed to wait to allocate any further funding to EMU hockey until Director Mohammad Aggour met with the club’s president to discuss details of the costs. The committee did allocate funding to three student organizations. The committee allocated a total of $2,864.25 at this meeting.

School of Communication, Media & Theatre Arts seek donations for S.I.T. Campaign

To enhance viewers' enjoyment of EMU productions, the School of Communication, Media & Theatre Arts (CMTA) decided to install new seats in both Quirk and Sponberg theatres. Their goal is to raise a minimum of $200,000 before the end of August 2020. To make a donation or learn more about the S.I.T. campaign, visit donate.emich.edu/project/16623.

Student Senate creates commission to tackle housing and food insecurity

During the Senate meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 5, Resolution 106-08, which was a proposal to start an ad-hoc committee to focus on the issue of food and housing insecurities on campus, was presented to senators. Senators also discussed Resolution 106-09, which would establish a fundraiser for the Student Emergency Fund where Student Government would match student donations that met certain criteria. Both of these resolutions were passed in unanimous votes.

Pumpkins light up Frog Island Park at All Hallows Illumination

Jack-o’-lanterns get their final hurrah in Frog Island Park. To finish the Halloween season off strong, Ypsi residents of all ages bring their pumpkins to put on display for the whole community to see. The charmed evening also featured entertainment including fire dancing, a monster violinist, and a tarot card reader.
