Step Show packs Pease

The National Pan-Hellenic Council of Eastern Michigan University hosted its annual Step Show in Pease Hall Auditorium on Thursday. “The step show is an annual highly anticipated event,” said Ivory Harris, co-host of the show.

10 years too many

On Friday, the 10th-year anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion, Michigan Peaceworks — an Ann Arbor-based organization dedicated to peace, social justice, human rights and civil liberties — gathered in Ypsilanti to protest the war in Afghanistan. Council hears proposal

The Ypsilanti City Council held a working session last Monday and heard a proposal from the Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Department to put a recreation center fronting on Michigan Avenue and the Huron River on the 12 acres at the northwest corner of the 38-acre Water Street site.

Cyber-security Awareness

Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano will speak at the Michigan Cyber Summit hosted by Governor Snyder and Eastern Michigan University on Friday at the EMU Marriott Eagle Crest Hotel and Convention Center. The event is the official kickoff of the National Cybersecurity Awareness month. EMU helped assist in the planning and staging of the summit.

EMU campus tweaking a few things

The newly renovated bathrooms in Pray-Harrold have been tweaked again. In response to complaints regarding the dryers’ noise level, baffles were installed to control the loudness.

Facebook gives users new features

Facebook released yet another set of modifications to its social networking site on Sept. 22. These major changes include features allowing its users to follow public updates by subscribing to other users, as well as adding a ticker that combines both the “top stories” and “most recent” sections into one. Blogger and self-proclaimed hacker Nic Cubrilovic has noticed these changes are not the only problems users are facing, though.
