Transfer programs save students money

The Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers transfer agreement allows students to transfer from community colleges to select baccalaureate universities within Michigan. It provides transferability of 30 credits to meet many, or all, of the general education requirements at four-year colleges.


	Members of Students for an Ethical Participatory Education had flash mobs and led a protest march to get the university to cut its contract with Adidas.

Students for an Ethical Participatory Education has taken a more aggressive approach to get the attention of Eastern Michigan University’s administration, and are hoping to incite an answer regarding the university’s contract with Adidas.

Gregory Champion, president of the Eastern Michigan University pro-life group Students for Life, said when the group applied for funding in February they didn’t expect to be fully funded, but each student at EMU has mandatory dues.

Mock trial team in semi-finals

Eastern Michigan University’s mock trial team will be participating in the opening rounds of the semi-finals next weekend in Cincinnati, Ohio. The program takes students from colleges around the country and puts them through the real legal procedures of a court case.

Christian organization files lawsuit against EMU

A lawsuit was brought against Eastern Michigan University this week by the Christian legal ministry Alliance Defending Freedom on behalf of campus pro-life group Students for Life. A press release from ADF said its attorneys filed a federal lawsuit in Detroit on Tuesday.

Eastern Michigan University will not be in the 2013 U.S. World News and Business Report’s teacher preparation review, because a deal couldn’t be reached between EMU and the National Council of Teacher Quality.

Some EMU students don’t know what to do in crisis

How safe are you at Eastern Michigan University? That’s the question some students are asking following recent events at the University of Central Florida, where a former student stockpiled guns and explosives and held his roommate at gunpoint before committing suicide.



Introducing The Eastern Echo’s newest event and news based podcast, Scoop on the Scene. These weekly episodes will be hosted by the organization’s Digital Editor, Julez DeShetler. She intends to bring awareness to the events happening on an around campus to Echo listeners. 

DeShetler’s goal with the podcast is to encourage students and community members to get involved in an educated, safe and fun manner. She will list various events to choose from in addition to sharing the key details of said events. 

These podcasts can be expected to come out near the weekends and be no longer than 10-15 minutes.

For the week of Sept. 14 to Sept. 20, DeShetler includes events such as sports, a pub crawl, yoga, a movie in the park, Study Abroad Fair and training sessions.
