Safety Week at EMU

In light of the recent wave of violent crimes on and surrounding Eastern Michigan University’s campus, Student Government has deemed the first week of February Safety Week.

Community ecology lecture— Emily Grman from Michigan State University will be presenting a lecture entitled, “Community Ecology in a Changing Environment.”

Jan. 24 Books were stolen from a donation box outside the university bookstore between 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. by a non-student subject. The subject attempted to sell the books back to the university bookstore unsuccessfully and then successfully sold the books to another bookstore. Police were able to identify the thief by reviewing security footage and charge him with theft.

Program encourages girls to pursue math, science

On April 25, 2014 Eastern Michigan University will host a day-long conference for middle school and high school girls looking to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics called Digital Divas.

Jan. 21 A student was caught using fake parking hangtags in the Bowman Lot at 9:32 a.m. The student’s car was towed, and he will face further consequences under the Student Code of Conduct. A student who left items in a locker at the Rec/IM on Nov.

Eastern Michigan University’s 2014 Study Abroad Fair gave students the opportunity to browse the various destinations they can visit to learn about different cultures and study for the credit course that is offered.

Housing fair to be held Feb. 6 in Student Center

This year, Eastern Michigan University’s Student Government Association is hosting a housing fair to allow to students a chance to browse off-campus and on-campus living quarters while asking questions about the safety and other regulations provided by the residences.
