Beta Alpha Psi's charity pays off

Three Members of Beta Alpha Psi volunteered for charity on the Sept. 20, and the three students had surprise help when they went to work at the Meals on Wheels event, held in Ann Arbor.Governor Rick Snyder volunteered for the day with a few of his aids.


MESA chalks out the cost of war

Over 30 volunteers gathered Sunday night to help the Middle Eastern Student Association with their chalk event that was seen around campus Monday.Walking from Pray-Harrold to Halle library and from Halle library to the Student Center, 1,600 body outlines and initials were drawn on the sidewalk.

EMU celebrates Women's Health Day

Eastern Michigan University celebrated national Women's Health & Fitness Day by hosting various activities and exercises for students throughout the day Wednesday at the Rec/IM and Student Center.Ellen Collier, program coordinator of EMU’s Women’s Resource Center, said the WRC helped organize the event because they really felt it was important to talk about health and wellness as a general concept.

Miller outlines plans for new school year

Eastern Michigan University’s Student Government gathered for a State of the Student Body meeting Monday night in the Student Center.Student Government is composed of an executive board, the Student Senate, and several specialized committees.


Star Lecture Series kicks off with Heather Neff

Eastern Michigan University scholars filled the student center ballroom Tuesday evening for the first Honors College Star Lecture with speaker Heather Neff, an English professor and director of the EMU McNair Scholars Program.





Introducing The Eastern Echo’s newest event and news based podcast, Scoop on the Scene. These weekly episodes will be hosted by the organization’s Digital Editor, Julez DeShetler. She intends to bring awareness to the events happening on an around campus to Echo listeners. 

DeShetler’s goal with the podcast is to encourage students and community members to get involved in an educated, safe and fun manner. She will list various events to choose from in addition to sharing the key details of said events. 

These podcasts can be expected to come out near the weekends and be no longer than 10-15 minutes.

For the week of Sept. 14 to Sept. 20, DeShetler includes events such as sports, a pub crawl, yoga, a movie in the park, Study Abroad Fair and training sessions. 

Be sure to tune in weekly to stay up to date on all the Eastern Michigan and Ypsilanti amusement!
