The Holman Success Center is a valuable resource to have at Eastern Michigan University. Located in room G04 of the Bruce T. Halle Library, it is easily accessible to all students.


NABA Denied Event Funding on Appeal

The National Association of Black Accountants student organization, appealed a decision declining funding for catering of a panel discussion at Tuesday’s student Senate meeting. The Senate declined the appeal by a vote of 3-10.

Women's Resource Center hosts EMU's first V-month

February opens up the first “V month” at Eastern Michigan University. The Women’s Resource Center will be holding events covering topics and stories not featured in the “Vagina Monologues.” V month is a month dedicated to the expansion of the “Vagina Monologues” which will be performed Feb.

Yankee Air Museum to relocate at Willow Run bomber plant

A piece of history contiguous with Ypsilanti will be preserved for future generations because a remnant of the industrialized war effort from the World War II-era has been saved from destruction. After raising more than $5 million, the Yankee Air Museum will relocate into the old Willow Run bomber plant, and the move is scheduled to take place in the summer of 2017.

Two students killed in automobile accident

Two Eastern Michigan University students, Jordan Hopkins, 23, and Shannise Heady, 21, were killed in an automobile accident on Hewitt Road north of Michigan Avenue early Sunday morning, EMU said in a statement today. Heady, a junior from Hazel Crest, Ill., was a forward on the women’s basketball team.

Jock Jams at EMU

The 14th Annual Jock Jams was held Thursday, Jan. 22 at Pease Auditorium by the Student Athlete Advisory Council. It brings comradery to the sports teams across the board and it was a great event to bring everyone together for some lighthearted fun.

Monday, Jan. 26 "And There’s the Humor of It": Shakespeare and the Four Humors Come and examine the intersection of medical theory and literature with this panel exhibition on loan from the National Library of Medicine, all day at the Halle Library. Workplace Equality; LGBT Polices and Practice State Senator Rebekah Warren and a panel of researchers, advocates, and Human Resource professionals examine impacts of workplace discrimination.

Eastern Michigan University students practiced mindfulness and relaxation in the “Mindful Being” meditation program at Snow Health Center Friday.

Reporter, author visits EMU to talk Detroit revival

John Gallagher, journalist and author, visited Eastern Michigan University Tuesday evening to kick off the three-part lecture series, “The Future of Urban Michigan,” hosted by the Political Science department. Gallagher is a veteran reporter at the Detroit Free Press, where he co-wrote the award-winning enterprise story “How Detroit went broke” with EMU and Echo alumnus Nathan Bomey.




ASA Martin Luther King Day panel

ASA tries to break down cultural divide

During the Martin Luther King Day celebration, Eastern Michigan University hosted 13 academic program—many of which were LBC approved. The African Student Association hosted their first academic program Monday afternoon, titled “The African/African-American Divide.” The program was a panel lead discussion about breaking the barrier between the African and African-American cultures.
