EMU blows halftime lead, falls 35-28 to CMU

Eastern Michigan couldn’t withstand its 14-point halftime lead against Central Michigan University on Friday, after CMU would score 28-points in the third quarter to rout the Eagles, 35-28, in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

It’s become a tradition for Eastern Michigan University to close out the regular season with a Friday Mid-American Conference game, as EMU has been doing so since 2006. This year the Eagles will venture to Mt. Pleasant, Mich. and face rival Central Michigan University for a 1p.m. kickoff.

Final home game ends in defeat for seniors

Senior Day at Eastern Michigan University ended in defeat for its 10 football seniors with a 28-17 loss to the University of Massachusetts. The loss ends the Eagles’ home schedule without a win at Rynearson Stadium and now the team has lost nine games in a row. “Tough game.” EMU coach Chris Creighton said.

The University of Massachusetts Minutemen will make their first trip to Eastern Michigan University Saturday; both teams having second year head coaches, high-powered offenses and one win on the season.


Eagles lose eighth straight

Another slow start lead to an eighth straight defeat for the Eastern Michigan University Eagles, as they fell on the road to Miami University, 28-13, in Oxford, Ohio.

The Miami University RedHawks much like Eastern Michigan University are in search of its first conference win of the season. EMU travels to Oxford, Ohio this weekend to take on the RedHawks and their second year head coach Chuck Martin. Martin has a 3-18 record since taking over the program and currently stands with a 1-8 record this season, identical to Chris Creighton at EMU.

Next year there will be an English Literature student working at Taco Bell instead of dissecting “Madame Bovary”. Next year there will be a Chemistry major working construction instead of working in the lab. Next year a potential graduate student will enter the workforce instead of pursuing their dream. Next year a random student at an Eastern Michigan University will receive a year of free tuition for attending a football game.

Eastern Michigan University welcomes it’s cross state rivals the Broncos of Western Michigan University, in the battle of Interstate-94. The game will be played on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. It’s the first time in school history that EMU will host a weekday night game.

The Northern Illinois University Huskies are what many people would call the turning-point program of the Mid-American Conference. In the 2012-13 college football season, the Huskies did the unthinkable and made it to the Discover Orange Bowl.
