Tristen Hines announced his commitment to play for the Eastern Michigan football program on June 22, 2019. Hines is a 175-pound defensive back out of Milan. He will graduate from Milan High School in 2020 and will attend Eastern Michigan the following school year.
David Carter Jr., a 3-star recruit according to 247 Sports, announced his commitment to play for Eastern Michigan on June 12, 2019 via Twitter. Carter is heading into his senior year at River Rouge High School. He is a 6’0” cornerback who weighs approximately 170 pounds.
Athlon Sports announced that seven Eastern Michigan University student athletes made preseason All-MAC last month.
The Lions are coming off a 6-10 finish to their season which saw them finish in last place in the NFC North. It was also the first year under new coach Matt Patricia. With the 2018 season now firmly in the rearview mirror for all 32 NFL teams, the Lions have started their 2019 campaign off on a high note taking Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson in the first round of the draft on April 28.
The Pittsburgh Steelers invited former Eastern Michigan defensive back, Ross Williams, to rookie mini-camp. Williams is the fifth EMU player to get a chance in the NFL, as he joins Maxx Crosby, Blake Banham, Ka’John Armstrong and Jeremiah Harris. Williams played in 29 games during his four-year career with the Eagles.
Jeremiah Harris, who played defensive lineman for the Eagles over the past four seasons, has signed a free agent contract with the New York Giants. Harris started 12 games last season for Eastern Michigan and totaled 64 tackles. He is now the second former Eastern Michigan defensive lineman to sign with an NFL team this year. The first was Maxx Crosby, who was drafted 106th overall by the Oakland Raiders, the sixth highest draft pick in Eastern Michigan history.

The 6-foot-5, 255 pound prospect is second in EMU history in sacks (20) and tackles for loss (41). The pick on the television broadcast was made from the new Raiders stadium location in Las Vegas, where the team sets to move to in 2020.
The NFL released the 2019 schedule for all 32 teams on April 18. The season will feature 256 regular season games beginning on Sep. 5. This will be the NFL’s 100 season, and the league has decided to mix things up in terms of scheduling games in celebration of the anniversary, scheduling teams together in honor of historical games. There are a plethora of exciting games on the schedule, ranging from revenge games to Super Bowl rematches. Here are the top five most exciting games on the schedule.
The Eastern Michigan football team had their annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 13. Team Fink and Team Hale faced off in Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti, as Team Fink came out on top 14-7 behind a touchdown from Karmi Mackey and Preston Hutchinson.
The Eastern Michigan athletics program has seen some ups and downs in the last year, which includes a MAC Tournament title by the women’s volleyball team, an appearance in the Camellia Bowl for the football team, and a court ruling that forced EMU to reinstate the softball and women’s tennis teams.
Eastern Michigan held their 2019 Pro Day on March 22 in their indoor practice facility, showcasing their 12 draft-eligible players in front of pro scouts. James Patton was named the new offensive line coach for the Eastern Michigan football team by head coach Chris Creighton on Jan. 16, and that should have fans, myself included, very excited. Patton was the offensive quality control assistant for the University of Pittsburgh the past two seasons.
