The Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team lost in the first round of the Mid-American Conference tournament, 67-53, to Akron University Tuesday night in Ohio.

The Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team saw its world turned upside-down, right-side up, and then back upside-down again in a buzzer-beating loss to Miami University (Ohio), 58-56, Saturday at the Convocation Center.

College basketball’s top three seeds were on showcase Saturday, with one team pulling off the victory on a day of upsets. No. 1 Ohio State remains unbeaten, as it defeated host and No. 22 Illinois, 73-68, improving its record to 20-0 and 7-0 in the Big Ten play.

Another poor shooting game for the Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team resulted in a 60-51 loss to Mid-American Conference West Division leader Ball State University on Wednesday night at the Convocation Center.

Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball extended its winning streak to six games and made its Mid-American Conference record 2-0 on Saturday by defeating the Ball State Cardinals 70-62 at the Convocation Center.

The Eastern Michigan University self-reported four NCAA rules violations by its Women’s basketball on Friday. The findings are the result of a two month internal investigation by the school’s compliance office. “We have taken swift and decisive action in this matter “ said Susan Martin, President of Eastern Michigan University.

Polish center aims for bigger role

Kamil Janton is a sophomore center for Eastern Michigan University’s basketball team. Born in Poland, Janton lived for seven years in Chicago, where he played basketball for Bartlett High School under coach Jim Wolfsmith.

Basketball reaches quarterfinals in MAC

With a career-high 27 points, Cassie Schrock carried Eastern Michigan University to a 66-56 victory over the visiting University of Buffalo on Saturday, helping advance her team to the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference tournament. Schrock is now fewer than 50 points away from becoming one of a handful of EMU athletes to score 1,000 career points.
