The Eastern Michigan baseball team has their home opener Friday night against the University of Akron. The Eagles have struggled on the road to start the season as they currently sit at 6-12 but here are the five things you need to know heading into the Mid-American Conference season.

Eagles Avoid Shut Out, But Not Sweep in Indiana Loss

Eastern Michigan University's baseball team was unable to keep pace with the Indiana Hoosiers Wednesday afternoon and was defeated by a score of 9-1, the second loss to the Hoosiers in as many days. For the second consecutive game, the Eagles sent a freshman pitcher out to the mound giving left-hander, Kyle Huckaby, his second career start.


EMU Baseball team loses 5-3 to Santa Clara Broncos

Eastern Michigan University baseball team lost to the Santa Clara Broncos 5-3 Saturday, Feb. 28. The Broncos had a 5-0 lead all the way into the ninth inning until EMU’s Michael Mioduszewski hit a three-run triple in the final inning still leaving them down two runs at the end of the game.

Van Ameyde named baseball coach

Eastern Michigan University named Mark Van Ameyde its baseball coach Tuesday. Van Ameyde is switching one green and white jersey for another, as he spent the last six years as the assistant coach for former EMU assistant Jake Boss at Michigan State University.

Backup infielder is worth more to the Tigers as a pitcher

Detroit Tigers backup shortstop Danny Worth pitched the ninth inning in two different blowout losses this week and manager Brad Ausmus, as well as the team’s front office might now have a decision to make about the infielder’s future.

The Eastern Michigan University baseball team concluded its season on a positive note on Saturday with a 5-2 victory over the University of Toledo in 10 innings.


	Sunday’s 15-1 loss dropped the Eagles to 17-33 overall and 4-20 in conference play.

EMU suffers 15-1 blowout vs. CMU

On May 11, in the final game of Mid-American Conference play at Oestrike Stadium for the 2014 campaign, the Eastern Michigan University men’s baseball team suffered a 15-1 loss to Central Michigan University. The Eagles (17-33, 4-20 MAC) took an early 1-0 lead before the Chippewas (32-20, 17-7) rattled off 15 consecutive runs.

The Eastern Michigan University baseball team (14-24, 2-13 Mid-American Conference) had a rough week at Oestrike Stadium, playing the University of Miami (18-20) in a three-game series and losing all three games, before picking up a win against Hillsdale University (13-27).
