Review: 'My Fault: London' is steamy and thrilling

"My Fault: London" was released to Prime Video on February 13 and is trending. This film is a remake of the original Spanish film "Culpa Mia" based on Merecede Ron’s novel. The chemistry between Noah (Asha Banks) and Nick (Matthew Broome) is undeniable.

This film is about a girl named Noah who moves from America to London with her mother and wealthy stepfather. Noah meets her new stepbrother, Nick, they create a bond. Their attraction to one another is undeniable despite their efforts to resist it. Noah’s father, who is released from prison, tracks her down and puts Nick in danger.

Highs

The highlight of this film is the chemistry between Noah and Nick. Banks and Broome portray this intense attraction to one another, enhancing the tension between their characters. Nick’s character is seen as this wealthy, snobby man who is toxic, but in reality, that's not the case. His character development is critical and shows his genuine emotions for Noah. His love for Noah is passionate, and their connection is deep. Compared to the original film, Nick in "My Fault: London" is perceived as more mature and compatible.

The pacing of this film significantly improves romantic tension and boundaries. In the original, the characters getting together was too fast, while this film stayed slower and used a slow-burn trope. This makes the movie more mature and considerate, with a greater sense of emotional growth instead of just physical intimacy.

The film's setting is high, considering it takes place in London. It shows the British people's authentic culture and London's beauty. The scenes of going out in the city and having a street race were gorgeous. The cars used in the film were beautiful and captured the adrenaline of racing.

Lows

There were minimal lows as it was a remake of the original film "Culpa Mia." The main low point is Noah’s father, who lacks background information on why he was going after Noah. He didn’t seem as intense as the original, and Noah’s abuse aspect lacks background information. She endured abuse from her father but never mentioned to Noah that her mother endured it as well.

The relationship between Noah and Nick’s parents is not as developed as in the original. They do not play a significant role in the film, even when Noah is kidnapped by her father. Also, Noah’s mother is not as strict in this film and does not question her daughter as in the original.

Verdict

"My Fault: London" is worth watching. It is better than the original and has a more mature perspective. It is full of love and emotional attraction between characters forbidden to be together.

Rating: 8.5 out of 10
