"XO, Kitty" season two was released on Jan. 16 on Netflix, where it is trending at the time of publication. This season discovers the meaning behind self-discovery. It features Anna Cathcart as Kitty Song Covey, Sang Heon Lee as Min Ho, and Gia Kim as Yuri Han. The love triangle between these three is intense and intriguing.
Season two follows Kitty as she continues her life at the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS), and navigates her romantic feelings for both girls and boys. Unresolved tensions between Kitty and Min Ho are shown during the season. Min Ho confessed his love for Kitty last season, creating tension within other friendships. Kitty is also on an adventure to discover more about her mother’s family. This causes her and Min Ho to become closer.
Highs
The character development of Kitty is a highlight. She shows genuine emotion when navigating her feelings for Yuri. This creates stress and drama in her friendships. She discovers that her feelings for girls are real, but at the same time, the tension between her and Min Ho is developing. This is a highlight, considering their character's connection is undeniable. Their bond creates humor, while Min Ho is very protective of Kitty. Their characters are a slow-burn sensation throughout the season.
Min Ho's character development is tremendous. Last season, he was a snobby, rich boy. This season, he cares more about Kitty and shows his true feelings through his actions in their friendship. He opens up about his feelings about his father. He is a true friend who will do anything to help Kitty, no matter the cost.
The cultural experiences are high due to the show’s setting in Korea, which depicts the beautiful parts of the country. Kitty is on an adventure, discovering more about her mother’s side. This journey shows the stunning settings and cultural norms of Korea.
The plot twists in this season keep the audience engaged and create tension. The storyline of Kitty keeping her true feelings for Yuri establishes tension between Yuri and Juliana. Yuri and Kitty’s friendship is high because their friendship bond is beautiful. They have a strong friendship, just like their moms. Their friendship is unbreakable no matter what happens, and this shows how much Kitty cares to save their friendship regardless of her feelings for Yuri.
Another high point is Kitty's friendship with Q, played by Anthony Keyvan. Their bond is hilarious and keeps the audience interested in their banter. Q will do anything to help Kitty. They are the perfect example of best friends in the show. He supports her no matter what and protects her.
Lows
The lows in this season are minimal. The love triangle could be low considering how much drama it causes and confuses the audience with who Kitty will choose. Stella, played by Audrey Huynh, has a suspicious personality throughout the season. Not knowing her true motives watching the first few episodes can be frustrating.
Juliana, played by Regan Aliyah, is another low because she is jealous of Kitty. Her passive-aggressive attitude toward Kitty can be frustrating. She also feels threatened by Yuri’s friendship with Kitty, which creates unnecessary drama. The last low is the ending of the season; without spoilers, it didn’t satisfy the audience. There should have been more to the ending before leaving it on a cliffhanger.
Verdict
"XO, Kitty" season two is worth the watch due to how beautiful the character development is and how intense the drama can be. This is a season full of self-discovery and love triangles.
