Eagle Sports Tips and Tales: Jan. 28-Feb. 3

As January nears its end and February approaches, Eastern Michigan University is gearing up for a thrilling week of sports action across multiple disciplines.

From pivotal basketball games to track & field meets and gymnastics action, EMU athletes are ready to showcase their talent and bring their best to the competition. Whether you're cheering from the stands in Ypsilanti or following the action from home, here’s your essential guide to this week’s can’t-miss events:

Men’s Basketball at Miami 
The men’s basketball team heads to Oxford, Ohio, for a key Mid-American Conference (MAC) matchup with Miami at 7 p.m. The Eagles will be looking to capitalize on this road game to secure a much-needed win in the MAC standings.

Women’s Basketball at Kent State 
The women’s basketball team will hit the road for a 7 p.m. showdown against Kent State. This is another critical game as the Eagles continue their fight for a strong finish in the MAC.

Track & Field at Jets Pizza Invitational 
On Jan. 31, the women’s and men’s track & field teams will compete at the Jets Pizza Invitational in University Center, Michigan. This all-day event will see some of EMU's top athletes take on regional competition in what promises to be an exciting meet.

Track & Field at Meyo Invitational 
Also, on Jan. 31, the women’s and men’s track & field teams will travel to South Bend, Indiana, for the prestigious Meyo Invitational. This competition will bring together top athletes from across the region, and the Eagles are eager to make their mark.

Swimming & Diving at Ohio 
The swimming and diving team will face off against Ohio on Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. in Athens. With an eye on continuing their strong performance, the Eagles will look to finish the month with another solid victory in the MAC.

Men’s Basketball at Western Michigan
Later that day, the men’s basketball team will travel to Kalamazoo for a 1 p.m. game against Western Michigan. Both teams will fight to improve their position in the MAC standings, making this an exciting rivalry showdown.

Tennis vs. Oakland 
The tennis team returns home to take on Oakland at 1 p.m. on Feb. 1. With a chance to prove themselves on their home court; the Eagles are eager to secure a big win and continue their strong season.

Women’s Basketball vs. Toledo 
Also, on Feb. 1, the women’s basketball team will host Toledo at 2 p.m. in Ypsilanti. The Eagles will be looking to defend their home court and continue their push for a top spot in the MAC.

Gymnastics at Northern Illinois 
On Feb. 2, the gymnastics team will travel to DeKalb, Illinois, to face Northern Illinois at 1 p.m. EMU will look to continue its impressive road performance and add another victory to its season.

Tennis at Michigan State 
Later on Feb. 2, the tennis team will travel to East Lansing for a 4 p.m. matchup against Michigan State. The Eagles will aim to build on their momentum and defeat another formidable opponent in this key non-conference contest.
