Eastern Michigan football shines as 4 eagles earn all-MAC honors

Four Eastern Michigan University football players have been recognized among the Mid-American Conference elite. After standout performances this season, they earned All-MAC honors. The announcement, made Thursday, cements EMU's place in the conversation for top-tier talent within the league.

Junior wide receiver Oran Singleton and junior kicker Jesús Gómez landed on the All-MAC Second Team, showcasing their pivotal roles for the Eagles. Singleton was a consistent force in the passing game, hauling 64 catches for 639 yards and two touchdowns. Known for his ability to step up in big games, Singleton delivered a season-best 103 yards against Toledo, proving a reliable weapon for EMU’s offense.

Gómez, a record-breaking kicker from Puebla, Mexico, turned heads with precision and power. He connected on 20 of 25 field goal attempts, including a jaw-dropping program-record 57-yarder against Washington. His 87 points this season kept EMU in critical games and solidified his spot as one of the nation’s top special teams players.

On the defensive side, senior linebacker James Djonkam's relentless energy earned him a spot on the All-MAC Third Team. With 98 tackles, including 11.5 for loss, Djonkam was the heart of the Eagles' defense. His career-high 22-tackle performance against Buffalo and three MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors underscored his impact on the field.

Senior wide receiver Terry Lockett joined the All-MAC Third Team after a stellar season as a big-play threat. With 660 receiving yards and five touchdowns on just 46 catches, Lockett averaged an impressive 14.35 yards per catch. His unforgettable 122-yard, two-touchdown game against Buffalo proved his ability to deliver in clutch moments.

These honors highlight the immense talent on Eastern Michigan’s roster, with each player leaving a lasting impact on the program. As the Eagles continue to rise, their standout athletes ensure they remain a force to be reckoned with in the MAC.
