Zumba with Kadesha & Teri - Aug. 12
Join instructors Kadesha and Teri for a session of Zumba in the dance studio of Riverside Arts Center. This class occurs weekly on Mondays from 6-6:55 p.m., with the first class attended being free of charge. After the first class, each class costs $10 with a student ID or $15 without. Pass options are also available, which allow for the payment of multiple classes at once.
Yoga Asana & Meditation - Aug. 12
Head to Rhizome Roots Studio for their weekly sessions of Vinyasa Flow and Yin Yoga & Meditation. Every week on Mondays, a session of Vinyasa Flow will take place from 6:30-7:15 p.m., followed by a session of Yin Yoga & Meditation from 7:30-8:15 p.m.
Official Fun Fest After Party - Aug. 12
Visit Ziggy's for the Fun Fest after party, which will feature Scüter and Sophiyah E. Admission costs $5, and the event will run from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.
YPOP Wednesdays! Group Pet Walk Around Depot Town - Aug. 14
Join Depot Town Cats & Dogs on their weekly pet walk in Depot Town. The walk will take place from 6:30-7 p.m., and it will begin at the pet supply shop. Individuals who play instruments are also welcome to play music during the event, for which they will receive a $20 gift card from Depot Town Cats & Dogs.
Depot Town Comedy Open Mic - Aug. 14
Head to 734 Brewing Company for a night of comedy. This week's free comedy night will be hosted by Julianna Loera-Wiggins, and it will run from 7:30-10:30 p.m.
Depot Town Cruise Nights - Aug. 15
Visit Depot Town to see a variety of classic vehicles as part of Depot Town Cruise Nights. The free event will take place every Thursday through summer from 5-9 p.m.
PTD Productions: "Fuddy Meers" - Aug. 15-24
Watch a PTD Productions performance of "Fuddy Meers" at Riverside Arts Center. Directed by David Lindsay-Abaire, there will be a total of eight performances held. On Aug. 15-17, and on Aug. 22-24, the performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. On Aug. 18, and on Aug. 21-22, the performances will begin at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $20 each for general admission and $15 each for students, seniors, and active military. John E. Lawrence Summer Jazz Series: The Lao Tizer Band, featuring Karen Briggs - Aug. 16
Listen to a musical performance by The Lao Tizer Band, featuring Karen Briggs, as part of this week's John E. Lawrence Summer Jazz Series concert. The performance will be held at Ford Lake Park from 7-9 p.m., and admission is free. Parking costs $10, and attendees are asked to bring their own lawn chairs.
Spinning Dot Theatre's Ten Year Anniversary Festival of Plays - Aug. 16-18
Join Spinning Dot Theatre in celebrating their ten years of performances. Over the span of three days, the theatre company will be performing a variety of productions at Eastern's Sponberg Theatre. "The Cat Who Ran" will be performed on Aug. 16-17 at 7 p.m. and on Aug. 18 at 2 p.m., "A Puppet Workshop!" will be performed on Aug. 16 at 3 p.m., "Dig" will be performed on Aug. 17 at 11 a.m., "This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girl Does Nothing" will be performed on Aug. 17 at 3 p.m., and "The Bomb" will be performed on Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. The link to purchase tickets, in addition to information on ticket prices, can be accessed through the Spinning Dot Theatre website.
Riverside Swings - Aug. 16
Swing dance with community members in the dance studio of Riverside Arts Center. Beginning at 8 p.m., a free one-hour beginner lesson will take place. A session of swing and blues will then follow at 9 p.m., which costs $5 to partake in.
Ypsilanti Farmers Market - Aug. 17
Head to Depot Town to shop from a variety of produce, crafts, and more from local vendors. The Ypsilanti Farmers Market, located at 100 Rice St., will occur every Saturday through summer from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Over The Edge Fundraiser - Aug. 17
Visit Hill Hall, located on Eastern's campus, to rappel down the 11-story building as part of the Over The Edge fundraiser. This year, the fundraiser will support the nonprofit Friends In Deed, which is based in Washtenaw County. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Air Workshop with Avery Williamson: Alternative Public Comment - Aug. 18
Take part in a workshop led by artist Avery Williamson at Riverside Arts Center: Off Center. The workshop, titled Alternative Public Comment, will involve creating paper collages using materials from the local archive. These collages are intended to help express individuals' dreams, concerns, and thoughts regarding the City of Ypsilanti. The free workshop will run from 2-3:30 p.m., and the supplies needed for the workshop will be provided. The workshop is open to individuals aged 9 and older, with those aged 9 to 16 required to be accompanied by a guardian.
