EMU E-Club to induct four into its Athletic Hall of Fame

Eastern Michigan University’s E-Club Alumni Chapter, the prestigious home for varsity athletic letter winners, is set to welcome four exceptional athletes into its Hall of Fame. On Friday, Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m., the spotlight will shine on men’s basketball standout Kory Hallas, women’s basketball All-American Tavelyn James, former MLB pitcher Matt Shoemaker, and women’s track sensation Gina Tempro as they are officially inducted into the Class of 2024.

Former men’s basketball letterwinner Jack Brusewitz will be honored with the Ron Oestrike Distinguished Award for his outstanding support and contributions to EMU Athletics and the E-Club.

Jack Brusewitz, a 1982 graduate with a BBA in Marketing, was a standout member of the EMU Men's Basketball Team from 1977 to 1982 and was inducted into the E-Club Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000. He played a significant role in the EMU Athletic Department Campaign for Championships fundraiser, was an original member of the Fastbreak Basketball Club, and was a lifetime member of the E-Club Letterwinners Alumni Chapter.

He established the Jack Brusewitz Basketball Endowment, chaired the Ben Braun Basketball Floor Naming Campaign, and served as President of the Champions Advisory Club.

This year’s induction will commemorate the 48th anniversary of the E-Club Athletic Hall of Fame. The event will feature a dinner followed by a ceremony at 6:30 p.m. in the George Gervin GameAbove Center. The Class of 2024 will also be honored during the EMU football game against St. Francis University on Saturday, Sept. 21.
