Seven standout Eastern Michigan University swimmers are set to make a splash at the 2024 USA Swimming Summer Speedo Sectionals, held at Ohio State University’s McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion from July 18-21.

Leading the charge is Marlee Christie (Seminole, Florida), who will compete in the freestyle (50y, 100y) and backstroke (50y, 100y) events. She set the EMU freshman record in the 100-yard freestyle last season, swimming the distance in an impressive 50.97 seconds. Senior Olivia Clarino (Toronto, Ontario) will showcase her skills in the butterfly events (100y, 200y), having narrowly missed setting a new personal record in the 100y fly last season.
Sophie Gatrall (Windsor, Ontario) is set to swim in the 50y and 100y freestyle events, coming off a strong performance at the Michigan First Chance Meet. Ashley George (Waukesha, Wisconsin) will take on multiple freestyle events (100y, 200y, 400y, 1,500y), highlighted by her second-place finish in the 200y freestyle time trials at the CSCAA meet.
Kiersten Russell (Clinton, Michigan) will participate in freestyle and backstroke events, holding three top-10 program times. She achieved a fourth-place finish in the 200y backstroke with a time of 1:58.19. Madelyn Sursi (Mooresville, North Carolina) is coming off a season where she set five personal-best times and earned two top-five finishes.
Abby Szadorski (Oswego, Illinois) will compete mainly in breaststroke events. Last season, she posted the seventh-best time in program history in the 100-yard breaststroke at the MAC Championships.
