Chris Nash directed "In a Violent Nature," a movie whose characters spend most of their time walking through the woods.
A group of teenagers accidentally brings a decaying corpse back from the dead after stealing a locket from a collapsed fire tower. Soon after, the angry spirit of Johnny, motivated by a horrifying murder that occurred 60 years prior, goes on a gruesome rampage to recover the stolen locket.
Highs
The film's high points were few, but the forested landscape was visually appealing, and the locket was a hilarious component of the movie. When it came to the killing, it was as graphic as one could have imagined. The killer's makeup, which was quite zombie-like, was another highlight.
Lows
The main low within the film is the lack of dialogue. The acting was not good, leaving the teenagers to seem more incompetent than anything. The killer also walked slowly throughout the movie. The film did not include any suspenseful moments and lacked the elements of a typical horror film. The lack of a story made the film uninteresting.
This film had little plot, and the plot that was there left viewers confused. There should have been more background information about the killer, for example, specific scenes about why he became that way. It lacked information on the teen characters as well.
If there had been more dialogue, it might have been more interesting and less dragging. The scenes where the murderer tracked down the teenagers to kill them were more graphic and repulsive than frightening. The teenagers more or less remained motionless as they avoided the murderer. It would have been more exciting and suspenseful if the teenagers had fled or engaged in combat with the murderer.
The movie's conclusion featured some dialogue, but it was unclear and had little bearing on the plot. Considering that the entire movie consisted of walking and no speech, it seemed pointless.
Verdict
This movie was not worth the watch and was a waste of time considering there was no plot or dialogue. It could have been better if there was a more in-depth storyline and background information about the killer.
