Junior Lucas Johnson (Hamilton, Ontario/Westdale Secondary/Wright State) showcased his batting prowess with a stellar performance, collecting four RBIs as the Eastern Michigan University baseball team faced off against the Mid-American Conference regular season champions, Bowling Green State University. Despite Johnson's standout effort, the Eagles couldn't secure a victory on their Senior Day, May 12, at Oestrike Stadium.
Johnson's impressive stat line included going 3-for-5 at the plate, highlighted by a double and a home run alongside his career-high tying four RBIs. Junior Aidan Arbogast (Livonia, Michigan/Stevenson/Mid-Michigan/Kellogg C.C.) also made significant contributions with a double and two RBIs.
Adding to the effort, senior Glenn Miller (Pentwater, Michigan/Pentwater/Spring Arbor) showcased his skills with three hits in four plate appearances, including a walk.
The game unfolded with the Eagles initially trailing 1-0 in the first inning, but their offense quickly responded, putting up five runs, including a three-run home run by Johnson and a two-run double from Arbogast.
Despite EMU's efforts, BGSU managed to tie the game at five before the Eagles regained the lead in the fourth inning, courtesy of Johnson's two-out RBI double, bringing the score to 6-5 in their favor.
However, the Eagles couldn't maintain their lead as the Falcons rallied, scoring three runs over the remaining five innings to clinch their 8-6 victory.
Up next, the Eagles will face Michigan State University on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in East Lansing, Michigan.
