EMU Gymnastics team celebrating

Three Eagles compete at 2024 NCAA Gymnastics Michigan Regionals

Three Eagles represented the Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team at the 2024 NCAA Michigan Regionals, which was hosted down the road at the University of Michigan from Wednesday, April 3 through Saturday, April 6.

The three would compete on Thursday, April 4, as junior Alana Fisher (Athens, Ala.) was on the vault in the second rotation, and junior Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich.) on the balance beam in the third, while senior Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) was showcased in all four events as the Eagles' only all-arounder.

Notching her third appearance in the NCAA Regionals, Chemotti is the first Eagle to compete in three consecutive NCAA Regional Championships since Hall of Famer Natalie Hashimoto did so in all four of her career seasons (2000-03) as an all-arounder.

Boris and Fisher notched their first appearances at regionals in their careers. Boris is the first Eagle to compete in the Regional Championships as an all-arounder since Hadyn Crossen in the 2021 season, while Fisher marks just the fourth individual vault NCAA Regionals qualifier in EMU program history.

Boris was first up for EMU as she started on bars where she earned a score of 9.700 in the first rotation. She then moved over to balance the beam as she earned a score of 9.850. That score for Boris would set the highest placing among the three as she tied for seventh place in the event.

With Boris on the beam, Fisher would perform on the vault as she notched a score of 9.775 during the second rotation.

Things were taken to the floor during the third rotation where Boris would earn a score of 9.825. Shortly after, the fourth rotation would get underway where Chemotti took a 9.825 score on the balance beam while Boris notched a 9.775 on vault.

Overall, Boris would finish the day with a 39.150 all-around score for the Eagles.
