EMU Student Government announces results of 2024 election

Eastern Michigan University Student Government hosted an election to determine the president, vice president, and senators for the 2024-25 school year. Voting started Wednesday March, 27 at 8 a.m. and ended at 8 p.m. that same day. 

President and Vice President:

The three tickets for student government president and vice president who appeared on the ballot are:

Hamzah Dajani & Jack Booth: Votes: 767 (68%)
Estelle Hackos & Andres Salamanca: Votes: 250 (22%)
Terrill Oatman & Jordan Boyd: Votes: 113 (10%)

Total votes cast: 1130
Based on these results, Hamzah Dajani was elected president and Jack Booth was elected vice president.

Senator:

There were 13 total candidates for senator. These senators act as representatives for all of the student body, representing roughly 1,000 students per senator. There was also one approved write-in candidate who is listed below.

Based on these results, all of the following individuals are elected

Sara Abuzir: 243 votes
Jack Booth: 429 votes
Abhiyan Chauhan: 213 votes
Hamzah Dajani: 451 votes
Gracie Esquivel: 298 votes
Yasrib Yasir Farook: 242 votes
Nina Freeman: 293 votes
Priya Ghotane: 299 votes
Rachel Hester: 242 votes
Jonah Huskey-Wright: 214 votes
Omar Nahlawi: 241 votes
Damian Rivera: 223 votes
Khongorzul Tseeuren: 199 votes
Ariya Noshin Chowdhury 3 votes (write-in candidate)
