Eastern Michigan's Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, hosted a student-ran fashion show at McKenny Hall on Thursday, March 14 at 7 p.m. During the show, students walked the runway in elemental-themed attire, in addition to performances, and other activities.
One of the Greek organizations under the National Pan-Hellenic Council, the Deltas has been on EMU's campus for 75 years. To celebrate this history the sorority decided to host "Delta's Week" a week-long event that included a panel discussion, award show, and community service.
Students and guests watched as models would strut down the runway tailored in unique attire.
Makila Biles, a member of the Deltas since April 1, 2023, said the organization wanted to host this fashion show and the community service events to celebrate the 75 years of success and sisterhood
"The fashion show was inspired by the five elements air, water, space, fire and water[earth]. We are trying to bring the elements to show a modern style and showcase our fashion," Biles said.

Anya Fuller, a senior and one of the models for two of the elements, said she saw this as an opportunity to be involved on campus and be in front of the cameras.
"It was a work of art. If you missed it you're lame you should have been there, but you can catch it on Instagram," Fuller said.
A similar fashion show was hosted by an EMU organization, Sophisticated, Talented, Youthful Leaders & Entrepreneurs(S.T.Y.L.E) in the fall semester of 2023.
Ivory, a freshman who participated in this semester’s fashion show and S.T.Y.L.E’s said that their experience from S.T.Y.L.E’s fashion show is what drew them to the Delta’s show.
“Honestly I’m not that much into fashion. I think of it as a way of expressing myself and not really a hobby,” Ivory said.
The fashion show was the fifth event of Delta Week on Friday March, 15 the sorority will be hosting a community service event in Putnam Hall and on Saturday March, 16 they will hold a luncheon at Huron Valley Pace in Ypsilanti.
“We do a lot of community service. We usually volunteer with Ozone. We also are doing a hygiene drive and will donate to Ozone,” Biles said.
