EMU men’s Track and Field’s Brendan Hill named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week 

Getting it done on the track and in the classroom. 

Eastern Michigan University men’s track and field high jumper Brendan Hill was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Male Scholar Athlete of the Week on Wednesday, Jan. 24. 

Hill achieved a jump of 2.10m at the Bob Marks Memorial Invitational on Jan. 20, to receive the honor, marking the first time an Eagle of the men’s team was named male scholar athlete of the week since Newlyn Stephenson in March of 2023. 

The honor adds to Hill’s resume which includes three-time member of the Academic All-MAC team, one-time United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic athlete, and two-time All-MAC selection. 

Mid-American Conference announces football scheduling for 2024-26

New formats, new opponents! 

Months after the MAC announced its new football scheduling format, eliminating the MAC East and West Divisions and introducing a four-pod three-team system, the conference opponent schedule is finally here. 

The first pod will feature EMU, Central Michigan, and Western Michigan. The second pod will feature Buffalo, Akron, and Kent State. The third pod will feature Miami, Ohio, and Ball State, while the fourth pod features Toledo, Bowling Green State, and Northern Illinois.

The new model will consist of each team facing all 11 conference opponents home and away at least once during a three-year cycle. The top two teams based on conference winning percentage will compete in the MAC Championship Game at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich.

For the upcoming 2024 season, EMU will host Buffalo, Central Michigan, Miami, and Toledo, while traveling to Akron, Kent State, Ohio, and Western Michigan. 

In 2025, Bowling Green, Kent State, Northern Illinois and Western Michigan will make the trip to Rynearson Stadium, while the Eagles will fly to Ball State, Buffalo, Central Michigan, and Toledo.

Akron, Ball State, Central Michigan, and Ohio will travel to Ypsilanti in 2026, while EMU travels to Bowling Green, Miami, Northern Illinois, and Western Michigan.

EMU women’s Track and Field’s Paige Marchant named MAC Female Track Athlete of the Week 

THAT MAKES TWO! 

After Brendan Hill was named male scholar athlete of the week, Eastern Michigan University women’s Track and Field athlete Paige Marchant was named the Mid-American Confernece’s (MAC) Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. 

Marchant marked the sixth-fastest time in EMU history in the 3,000m run as she finished in 9:23.90 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Opener in Boston, Mass., Dec. 2. She would then clock the fourth-fastest 800m at the inaugural Bob Parks Memorial Invitational in 2:07.90, Jan. 20.

Her 3,000m run finish stands as the second-fastest in the MAC this season and the 38th-best in the country, while her 800m time is the best in the MAC and ranks 19th-fastest in the country.
