Eastern Michigan University’s Campus Life will be hosting its Movie Night in the Park event on Sept. 15 at 8:30 p.m., with a special screening of “Joy Ride” at the Lake House Amphitheater.
This event is free to all who attend with popcorn, candy, and soda being provided. Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are also allowed, all alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Students may also bring blankets and their own chairs for more comfortable seating.
“I always bring my pop-up camping chair because it's more comfortable for me,” Sara Bamrick, Campus Life’s coordinator for activities and engagement, said. “But if you want to bring a blanket and lay on the ground, that's good too.”
Campus life sees there events as opportunities to venture outside and meet new people.
“When you're in your room, you're often times alone,” EMU student, Alseidi said. “But at this movie screening you go outside, talk, and eat food with others, all while watching a movie together. It's just a different vibe and it's nice.”
All guests are asked to be respectful of the other attendees and remain non-disruptive. Campus Life plans to host other films throughout the remainder of the semester. Recently, the organization hosted a screening of the live action “The Little Mermaid” in EMU’s RecIM pool.
“These movies are for you, projected free for you. Why not go? You're just going to have fun,” Alseidi said.
