EMU tennis fall short, 6-4 at hands of Western Michigan

Daniella Shved and Sabina Brichackova tie for team-led wins.

In a match against Western Michigan University (10-4, 1-1 MAC), the Eastern Michigan University tennis team (3-4, 0-2 MAC) fell to the Broncos 5-2, March 24.

Western Michigan claimed the No. 1 after efforts by Sabina Brichackova and Prerna Vichare, 6-4.

No. 2 went unfinished despite Daniella Shved and Wanyi Zhang being projected to win at the spot, and Western Michigan went on to claim No. 3.

In singles, EMU won two matches, and Vichare forced a third set dropping the set, 2-6, 6-4, 2-6.

EMU won at the No. 4 and No. 5 over the Broncos, and Shved recorded a 6-1 win.

Shved’s performance against Western moves her to 5-1 in singles play this season.

Her five wins tie with teammate Brichackova for team-led wins, and her one loss is the fewest by any player on the team who has competed in at least two singles matches, according to EMU Athletics.

Next, the Eagles will host Bowling Green State University at the Chippewa Club on March 26 at 1 p.m.
