Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift released a music video titled "Lavender Haze" on Jan. 27. The video includes themes of stars, planets, eternal love, and most of all, lavender and haze. In addition to fitting the aesthetic of the video, Swift's makeup, hairstyle, and wardrobe add to its meaning; her partner will love her regardless of what she wears or what the media says.
The music video does an excellent job of capturing the emotions conveyed in the song "Lavender Haze."
In addition to that, the video also suggests that Swift is re-recording her third studio album “Speak Now.” Fans have been patiently waiting for Swift's albums to be released since she announced in 2019 that she was re-recording her albums after Scooter Braun bought the rights and sold them all.
Since Taylor re-recorded "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" and "Red (Taylor's Version)," fans have been searching for any hints that could lead to another re-release.
The Swifties, as Swift's fanbase is known, have found a couple of hints that could lead to "Speak Now." For instance, koi fish can be seen swimming around Swift's head in the video, referencing the koi fish that was painted on her guitar during the 2012 "Speak Now World Tour."
"Lavender Haze" is a song with a purple hue, but Swifties argue that it might be a major clue to the new release of "Speak Now,“ since the color purple is largely associated with the 2010 project.
Another hint that Swifties have proposed is that a particular shot might provide clues. A flowy purple dress appears on the cover of Swift's "Speak Now" album, and in “Lavender Haze,” Swift can be seen lying down in a similar position while flowy purple fabric drapes over her.
In a past music video titled "Bejeweled," Swift can be seen pressing a sparkly purple elevator button and getting off on the third floor. Fans have speculated that since "Speak Now" has a purple album cover and it is her third studio album, it must mean the next re-recording will be "Speak Now.” It would be logical for her to release one more recording before she takes off on "The Eras Tour," in March.
Then again, these are just fan theories, and nothing is confirmed yet.
Regardless of what Swift does and does not release, it is to be expected that her tour and future projects will be successful. Swifties will continue to support her through all endeavors.
As always, she continues to leave a trail of clues in her music videos, social media posts, and interviews to send her fans on an endless scavenger hunt.
One can only wait and see.
