My Policeman

Review: ‘My Policeman’ will make tears pour out of your eyes

‘My Policeman’ shows the ups and downs of love and loss beautifully

If you like having your heart shattered into a million pieces then ‘My Policeman’ is for you. Seriously I cannot even get over this movie 24+ hours after watching it, it will completely take you over.

Synopsis

Marion and her husband Tom bring an old friend (Patrick) into their home after he has a stroke. This rehashes old memories and takes Marion back to the events of the past. Starring Harry Styles and Linus Roaches as Tom Burgess, Emma Corrin and Gina Mckee as Manion Taylor, and David Dawson and Rupert Everett as Patrick Hazelwood.

What I loved

The entire plot. I love a piece of media that can truly make you feel something and this film does just that. It’s a movie that’ll hit home for queer people (as it truly did for me). It’s a gut wrenching film, but in the best way.

The cast. Past and present selfs all did a wonderful job as portraying linear characters that I could follow throughout the film, especially in their mannerisms (and bringing the whole film together). They all just did an amazing job at portraying this story.

What I didn't love

It began as a slow start. It takes a minute to get into the story, but when it does it picks up fast. If you're not a person who likes a slow burn, then this film isn't for you.

It made me sob like a baby. I truly could not get a hold of myself for some time after this film. Bring yourself some tissues and prepare to be emotionally wrecked.

Verdict

Even with a slow start this film is one that'll make you feel everything deeply. I recommend this movie if you like beautifully made movies that’ll make you weep uncontrollably.

I give ‘My Policeman’ a 8.5 out of 10.
