Local restaurant Bobcat Bonnie's hosting Pumpkins & Pints

Pumpkin carving is paired with draft beer during Pumpkins & Pints: an event hosted by Bobcat Bonnie's on Thursday, Oct. 20.

Bobcat Bonnie’s is hosting its annual Pumpkins & Pints event on Thursday, Oct. 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Taking place at every Bobcat Bonnie’s location, the event consists of pumpkin carving accompanied by draft beer. For $15, a pumpkin, a carving kit, candy, and one draft beer are provided. If an alcoholic beverage is not desired, the cost covers one non-alcoholic beverage of equal value.

“One of the things that Bobcat Bonnie’s really likes to do is get involved with their communities through different events. This was a fun event that we thought of to celebrate the fall season and Halloween, and who doesn’t like to carve pumpkins?” Drew Salazar, general manager at Bobcat Bonnie’s Ypsilanti, said.

Having worked the Pumpkins & Pints event last year, Salazar referenced the memory of seeing families come together for an enjoyable night: a night full of fun and creativity.

“What makes this event so special is it gives a fun thing that families can do and also gives a part where the adults and parents can enjoy too,“ Salazar said.

Events at Bobcat Bonnie’s do not only bring together its attendees but also a wider scope of the community. This event, in particular, will include locally-sourced pumpkins and feature local breweries.

“I think the more that you invest in the community through events or charities, the better ... [this event] raises awareness for local businesses and provides just a fun night,” Salazar said.

The event has been happening for four years, and Salazar hopes it is a tradition that will continue.

“Shout-out to our owner Matthew Buskard for creating such an event that brings together a community,” Salazar said.

To attend the event, registration is required. One can register through Bobcat Bonnie’s website. At the time of writing, six spots remain at the Ypsilanti location.
