Review: 5 music releases you don't want to miss from March 25

Last Friday was filled with fun and enticing new music from plenty of different artist and genres. From MGK to Latto, here are some of the releases you may have missed out on.

March 25, featured many exciting albums, singles, and features that will be in my musical rotation for a long time. Last Friday was filled with so much remarkable music that it felt wrong to focus on any one album or artist. Here are the top music releases you might have missed.

Latto: "777"

Latto may have had the biggest release out of this entire list with her album “777." The first project under her new moniker, Latto plans to reintroduce herself with a “clean slate." This LP assembles amazing features and collaborations from artists like Childish Gambino, 21 Savage, and more. This high-energy album is currently the high point of Latto’s discography and the artist has obvious intentions of building off of this momentum.

Machine Gun Kelly: "Mainstream Sellout"

While controversial, there is no denying the fact that Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) is a well-known name. His newest album title not only displays self-awareness, but acceptance of his new role as a sellout. MGK continues to attempt to take punk rock head-on with this album, but there is a reason he was a “rapper” before he tried being a rock-star. Numbers wise this album will sell, but quality wise there's too much room for growth. The biggest highlight of MGK’s album is the heavy amount of features or star appearances from names such as Travis Barker, Gunna, Young Thugm, Willow, and Lil Wayne.

Buddy: "Superghetto"

As Buddy becomes a more familiar name for listeners, the music industry has already acknowledged his talent. “Superghetto” is the first album that the Californian rapper has released in five years. Highlighted by songs like “Wait Too Long (feat. Blxst)," “Happy Hour (feat. T-pain)," and “Hoochie Mama,” this album is filled with jazzy, soulful rhythm and blues vibes.

Kilo Kish: "American Gurl"

Many hip-hop fans unknowingly listen to this electronic singer from her mountain of features from artists like A$AP Rocky, Vince Staples, and more. However, this time the singer takes her own talent to the limelight with this “American Gurl” album. A futuristic sound constructed by synths and quality production leads to a far from disappointing album by the electronic artist.

Denzel Curry: "Melt My Eyez See Your Future"

One of the most highly anticipated releases of 2022 has finally come with the release of “Melt My Eyez See Your Future." When comparing this album to his earlier work, there is an observable and almost palpable display of his growth as an artist and rapper. Though his Floridian intensity is still present, the wordplay, flow, and cadence have all taken a step up. Not only is Denzel in his prime, but the other artists such as 454, Thundercat, Rico Nasty, T-Pain, and many others play a pivotal part in this stellar LP.

Friday also included releases from great artists like Koffee, Maren Morris, Wallows, Ibibio Sound Machine, NIGO, and more. It's been an amazing weekend for music, filled with tracks that will play a part in creating a great year.
